My good friend of over 50 years, "Hank" Endres, W7WOU of Oregon City, OR passed away this fall. Back in about 1950 he came to my house with his Novice test papers and asked me to administer the test. He passed easily. At the time his wife was with child and soon had a baby boy. We became great friends. Fast forward about 23 years, he called me and asked if I would administer the test to his son. I did and he passed. The son's wife was with child, and I wondered if I could stretch this to one more generation! (Didn't happen.) Hank had one of Oregon's first wineries which he had taken over from his father. He also ground mirrors to make his own astronomical telescopes, was a beekeeper, boatbuilder, fisherman, hunter, pianist, and prettty good CW man. He'll be sorely missed!
