Would like too mention too all New! and experienced operators that there will be a New! net begining this weekend Dec. 15, 2007:

D.X. N.E.W.S. Net ( 144.230 usb Every Sat. & Tues.)

D.X. North East Weak Signal Net:

Object will be to exchange, and aquire as many new grids, and states as possible. We will also touch on other related VHF/UHF DX subjects. This will assist in making your A.R.R.L. paper chasing interesting. Will also bring out some excitement, and activity to those looking to work stations that havn't been able to on the VHF/UHF bands.

This will take place on the SSB portions of VHF/UHF bands, and will require any horizontal array such as a dipole, loop, or beam of any kind. You can easily make a variety of beams, or dipoles of your choice with simple materials I'm sure you have laying around your QTH, or can find in local hardware store, but this net is not limited too verticals. If you are running a vertical it will work, but expect 20-30 db cross polorization loss. Not to fear! we will assist you with your contacts, and help you get to the next step.

This will give you a chance too try out your new antenna projects, and work on graduating to the next level. I am sure you will work stations further distance's than you ever did on FM.

Every Saturday morning's on 144.230 usb @ 10:00 am

&

Every Tuesday night's on 144.230 usb @ 8:00 pm

If you are interested in becoming a Net Controller, and assiting please E-mail me at: N2RRA@aol.com
We'll be needing a control operator in the north as far as (FN32,FN42), one to the West (FN02,FN01,FN00), and maybe one to the South in (FM29,FM19, or very southern FN20).

Hope to see you there!
73, and Happy Holidays!

For those that are not familiar with Weak Signal Work on VHF/UHF you will need a Grid Square Map which you can download off the A.R.R.L web sight.

To know what your Grid Square is to be able to exchange with other operators you will find it by loading your own call sign on www.qrz.com, and go to detailed info. There you will scroll down, and look for grid which for example my 6 digit grid is FN31da. This 6 digit grid allows you to triangulate, and quickly fix your rotor to the position needed to work a specific station in a specific grid. Very simple! By recieving his/her correct call sign www.qrz.com will help you figure out in which direction the operator is in if you can't make out his/her transmission due to QSB or QRM.

Icom gave out a bunch of grid square maps at Dayton last year.

I might even have some around.

If I do, one is yours free for the asking. (anyone who wants one).
