So??,
The bugger's won't be getting any of my hard-earned disability money, LOL! #Just as with Micro$quish, I'll invest my computer fix-up/repair/new toy's monies in company's that do support Linux, BSD, and Unix. #Let the Evil Toad King of Redmond and his co-hart's rattle their sabers. #I hope to become a Linux Jedi. # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
Hi All,
Doing well. #Hope all of the rest of you and your families are. #Slowly, but steadily, I'm getting into Fedora Core 6's Bible. #Now if it will just stick in a good spot on my brain, LOL! #Wife and I are fixin' LOL! That word just drives Yankees NUTZ, (getting in preparation, to prepare) to do some home remodeling after New Years, LOL!
Joyeäux Noél et Bon Année du Luzianne! #An, for those of you who don't speak South Louisiana, Avoylles Parish, Cajun French, that's Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Louisiana! #From OUR house to you and yours, we hope now, next year, and FOREVER, you, your loved ones, neighbors and friends are blessed with Great Health, Abundant Wealth, & Exceeding Joy.
Respectfully,

Actually, the Seagate drive is behaving perfectly proper within the USB spec.
The problem here is Greg Kohr-Hartman's crappy USB implementation for Linux.
By the way, never trust anything from the inquirer without verifying it with someone with a clue.

I have one "Free Agent" drive that I use on Linux and it seems to play relatively nice. It doesn't play as nice as some of my other external drives but nonetheless it does work. One possible and very simple workaround might be to make sure the drive always receives some activity within the timeout period. I can think of a few other possible workaround. Of course the best workaround would be an improved USB interface for Linux to replace or fix the broken one that exists today. While USB does work well enough for most purposes under Linux is still needs a major overhaul.

Yeah, I know, take it with a grain of salt but...
The thing that got me was that tech support says it won't work & they don't know the workarounds. That is just plain STUPID!
BTW: All my drives, thus far, work with no problems - but there again I'm using mid 90's computers. (from internal to USB to flash)
