I considered Doug a good friend and an important influence for Amateur Radio in the Houston area. #He was BVARC's nets manager, and he was well liked by everyone he met. #He will be sorely missed.

Joseph Douglas "Doug" Woodruff Jr. 51, KC5VYZ, passed away during
surgery at 11:13 am on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Doug has been a
member of the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio club for many years and
the Monday night VHF NET manager for the last 6 years. Doug was very
active in his church as well as amateur radio. His wife Sherry said
that he felt amateur radio was his "second ministry" and that he
always enjoyed the hobby. Doug worked many events as an amateur
radio operator and has been a familiar face on the MS150 Bike Ride
for over ten years. Doug's friendly and warm personality will be
dearly missed from the amateur radio community. Services are
tentatively scheduled for 10:30 am Friday, December 7, 2007 at
Simonton Community Church in Simonton, Texas.
