I saw this posting on EBay and just amazed as the stupidity of some people. This item can be had for under $300 easily most swap sites, but alas, on EBay, over $350! Crazy.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif remember that in some cases, it is the BUYER that sets the price.
The BUYER can buy a $150.00 rig for $700.00 if he so wants to. The SELLER sure aint going to turn it down . http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Shill bidding at its finest. Stay far away from this auction.

Hey it's a buyer market, or maybe a seller, whatever. If someone is willing to pay that amount they must think it is worth it, and a good deal.
Look at other things on ebay, the game console Wii, going in the stores for basic system of $259, yet I know someone who has sold 4 online for anywhere from $350 to $500. Someone is willing to pay and wants it now. Luckly I bought mine in the summer.
Basically it comes down to if you think it is not worth it then don't bid on it.
I don't think it is shill bidding, but the 200 watt description that is attractive to new hams. Wait 'til they get it and they find out it will only put OUT about 100 watts. With 40 years experience this guy shoul probably know better.

Reasonable shipping though.
Maybe he is just a great ebayer! I see he just recently sold a Yaesu FT-227 "memorizer" for $150.00.
As I recall the TS-120 had a lot of problems that were resolved with the TS-130.

I picked up a 120 as a spare rig a few years back for $200.
It's Christmas time and the 'bargain hunters' in action.

Yep, it IS holiday time, time for the " have nots " to have to sell their treasured items for rock bottom prices to those " haves " who on purposely try to give as little as possible for the "have nots " treasured items.
Some folks out there are living paycheck to paycheck, and dont have extra money for the holidays essential purchases .
So now the cheapskates CAN take advantage of the situation, by offering less than their normal cheap prices for good used equipment.
The BUYER is still in charge of the situation, in most cases. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

My first rig was a TS-120, back in '87. It was a great little rig -- used it for several months until I felt the need to upgrade, to a TS-930. BUt the 120 was a memorable little rig: I made a lot of Novice CW QSO's with that little rig -- it served me well, and I never had a problem with it. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I have never seen a TS-120 go for more then around $200 or so and the 130 for around $250-300. Usually, they are good performers for what you get for the low dollar price, but just can't see paying that kind of cash for a 120 ($385 at end of auction). For $400, I can get an 840 or 817 that is far better. But if a sucker is willing to pay it, go for it. Be interesting to see if the Buyer actually forks out the cash.

Some folks buy radios for sentimental reasons, might have been a first rig, or they have an kenwood collection going. I agree with everyone here it aint worth $300 performance wise (I have a 130 somehwere) but there may be more to the picture.

I had a 120 for my first rig, it was a very good radio. I think I paid $225 for it, worth every penny. Still miss it, but wouldnt trade my 718 to get it back! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

On Ebay anything is possible. Common sense is not common place on Ebay. In fact the high prices that stuff goes for on Ebay has sadly, infiltrated into most hamfest ive been to.
I bought a battery charger at K Mart. I used it for 3 years and sold it on Ebay for $20 more than they costed new.
I also use to pull little parts from junk cars. I sand blasted them and repainted them. Big profits, those guys restoring old cars will pay for parts.

Or go "HELLLLOOOOO" into the microphone as loud as he can, and only see 30 watts , and then really WONDER what in the !@#$ is wrong with this rig !

People who buy hamgear on e-bay aka E-PAY, usually have more dollars than sense . . .
As an owner of a TS-120, I can't even GIVE mine away . . . maybe because it is a simple radio, without all of the memories, WARC bands, emissions, that one finds in the new riceboxes. That makes it the ideal mobile rig -- you can't get lost in the buttons!!
Yet at hamfests, the TS-520/530/820/830 will go first, and they have tube finals!!!
I'll keep mine, maybe like boatanchors, they'll become valuable some day.

Only difference was WARC bands, and some extra goodies, accounting for a row of 4 pushbuttons instead of 3.
Only problem I ever had with mine was bad grounds on the boards . . . cured with a Phillips screwdriver on the mounting screws.

Guess my Icom 475 for $300 plus shipping was just a fluke, then.
and my 208H for $175, and my IC-735 in mint shape with Kenwood tuner and desk mic for $300, or the pair of PCR-100's for $50 each...
The thing is, ridiculously high-priced radios get LOTS of views, because everybody sees them and sends the link around to giggle at.
Ridiculously low-priced radios only get a few viewers before somebody snatches them up.
Result: Bunch of people griping about "E-PAY" and not realizing that they are missing hundreds of sweet deals, all day, every day.
My 475 was on the market 1 hour and 35 minutes at that price and I am utterly shocked that it lasted that long.

Everything in my shack came from Ebay, and a good selection of my handhelds and mobiles as well. #The most expensive thing I bought was my Kenwood TS-430S, with shipping I think I paid just under 400 almost five years ago. #My MFJ Versa Tuner II was under 50 bucks, an HTX-202 was around 50, as was my HTX-404. #Only owned one new piece of gear, my Yaesu 1802M which I picked up this past summer. #Evrything worked, too, right out of the box.
I've even bought some commercial radios that I had modified - never been rooked.
JMHO.
