I have been using IE since I was little, and I finally got sick of "security risks" and "Do you want to download..." and made the switch to FF.
I love it.
The transition was easy, and it actually follows the directions I set.
It will update the system w/o asking me it its OK, updates the add-on (solar weather) w/o asking me if it is OK, then claiming it's a security risk.
I can finally surf the web w/o having to stop and fix a problem every new website!

FireFox, Sunbird and Thunderbird are the ONLY way to go, IMHO!

With no doubt Firefox, including a good programmed interface to read emails directly from POP or IMAP servers. I also use Epiphany.

Another browser worth looking at is Opera - very fast page loading.

Up until release 2.05 of FireFox I was with you.

Since then, on this machine, IE7 has been faster. I'm running 2.08 right now. FireFox has not been without it's share of glaring secuirty holes.
The FireFox team seems to have lost sight of the goal which should be a light weight, W3C standards compliant, browser.

Now that Firefox is so popular, it's getting holes poked into it just like IE. IE seems to run faster on my system, so that's what I usually use. Hard to get excited about any particular browser, IMO they're all pretty poor.

FF is far superior to IE. The first thing I do when I am on a Windows box is to download and install FF. I try and avoid using IE at all costs unless I am on a machine where I can't add on software.

You might also give Opera a try. I tend to prefer it to FF.
