Quite a good list (http://www.dxing.info/dxpeditions/miscou2003.dx)
This actually is not a bad idea. On my side of North America I would have it made with BC, Alaska, lower 48, russia, probably Japan and probably more trying it.
I'm not impressed by their antenna system, however if their idea of mwl is to try to use seawater as part of the antenna it worked I guess.

I used to drive away from the city and its civilizations, no electrical over head line or any other source of modren life, always noticed when I am close the beach, I had a great receipitions and my signals with other stations been so , good, that I could not acheive with my fix installations at home, I got very nice readio reports being on driving accross the beach from EU, Japan and also the state side.
So may be the sea and your antenna are very much sychronized and matched in a great form.

Those of us who dabble in LF/MF DXing also favor the ITT Mackay Marine 303x/304x line...the Harris RF590...a few assorted Racals...and the Collins HF2050.
Edit: Picture of a 3031A; hope this works. I have one of these along with its 'cousin', the 3030AR...which is thumbwheel-tuned and came from Mackay with a RTTY filter installed.

Speaking of DX. I recall my first trip to Dayton in '99. We ran HF mobile and when we were in Indiana by late afternoon, I worked several European stations. I was blown away as Europe is inaudible in Kansas much past 1600z.
