Embellishment just about sums it up. That radio is in average minus condition, it's dirty and has rust spots. It is priced about right but has a ways to go on the auction and some sucker will wind up paying far too much for a radio that needs a lot of work to live up to the advertisement.

Whatsa "COLSE"http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif more than one COLT? What you wear? What the temp is outside in the midwest? Gotta swallow the cheeseburger bite before you talk!

Martyn is a real "piece of work".
Do a "google" on Radio Mart and see what you get.

Actually, Hirsch is the German word for deer. No wonder that receiver looks like a rack mount. And it's in 'prestine' condition. And his website shows he has CB/10 meter rigs. He calls one a 'skip machine.'
Now I've only been licensed 28+ years, but pardon my ignorance. What exactly is a CB/10 meter rig?

I've been doing a bit of surfing on e-bay for a while now and it's always interesting looking at the creative writing used on the site.
I particularly like the use of the word "Rare" in an item description. I'm always doubling the bid on any rare item.....<G>
The referenced seller is full of beans - he replaced three tubes but it's unmolested...no doubt that 10M/CB radio is wackpacked...
Anyone dumb enough to still contemplate doing business with Martyn with all the information about his practices out there needs an expensive education.
That is an R390A with an R-390 nameplate. There's no such thing as an R390A with a 1952 order number. I'm surprised some of the old timer experts didn't pick up on that. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

OH, I see it now but at least he got it right the first time.
I read a lot of his auctions(I just love great fiction writing) and have noticed many times different spellings and word usages. I just thought it might have something to do with his being British.

R390A = boat anchor, big time.
Had one 25 years ago, couldn't wait to get rid of it.
Just the ticket for "tuning the bands," ha ha ha ha ha...
...until your hand, wrist and arm wears out.
Not a good SSB receiver, either.
Ugh. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
My 51 year-old 75A4's a much nicer receiver (not general coverage, but who cares?)...

It?? Don't you mean "them"?? There's at least six misspelled words..
colse for close
prestine for pristine
scarse for scarce
seperatly for separately
shiney for shiny
sensative for sensitive

The ad says "it still shines". What I see is a dial that's yellow (smoker rig) and you can bet that cleaning that baby up will be a real challenge.
It looks like a less than average rig that's restorable but definitely not shiny.
