Just finished my homebrew 40m vertical, so far the signal comparisons are very favorable. Homebrew is definitely the way to go if you can!
If anyone is looking for some post-turkey QSO's, I'm planning to be on this weekend - hopefully Friday, but I may have to work :-( Would like to be able to get some DX, as this is the main reason I've built the vertical (low take-off angle and what not). It's definitely an improvement over my wire loop 12 ft off the ground.
