Justice in the anecdotal sense only. #
The South Korean immigrants who owned the dry-cleaner spent tens of thousands (perhaps over a hundred thousand) defending against this nusicance suit. #The result of their "victory"? #They had to close the store because of the cost of their defense and lost store revenue due to negative publicity.
Welcome to the USA, the land of Truth, Justice, and the American Way. #Satisfaction with our justice system is NOT guaranteed.

So where is the claim against him for frivolous suit. Both plaintiff and his lawyer (he was pro se) can be held liable for damages.
I guess, in this case, one might observe that, in losing his suit, this former judge has lost his pants and his shirt!

Don't worry, this ex-judge will probably get nominated to a Federal Court by the bush administration. #He's their kind of guy...

Let's not rush things. He has to be awarded the Medal of Freedom first.

I'm doubting too that the judge lost his retirement or anything like that. Probably a early retirement with a severance package to ensure his lifestyle and pay level wouldn't be disrupted.
You wouldn't want to adversely affect his golf game or whatever hobbies he will now have time to pursue.

Anyone here like the "you lose you pay" philosophy. This is used in most civilized countries.
NAH,make too much sense.

The only ones who made out on the deal are the attorneys on both sides http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
As usual. You can't finance beemers and yachts on $1000 civil suits!

The problem with the you lose you pay system is if you are damaged by a large company that spends 2 million to defend a 100,000 suit you are effectively denied your right to court. If Frivolous suit laws were enforced and the plaintiffs who brought a frivolous suit were made to pay the other side's costs but if there was a reasonable case but you lost you would not be nailed for costs

Who decides if a suit was frivolous?
