I guess they want more $$$$$$$$$, like they don't have enough already.

CHICAGO - McDonald's Corp. laid the foundation to perk up its beverage and breakfast offerings Tuesday with plans to add upscale coffee drinks, chicken biscuit sandwiches and breakfast burritos to its U.S. restaurants in the coming weeks.

The addition of espresso coffee drinks, which are being tested in more than 800 stores, will begin next year and will give McDonald's an important foothold into the lucrative $12 billion specialty beverage market.

Must be. So, Greg--has your subscription to the New York Daily News expired? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Seriously, McD's is going to have a hard sell because it is McDonalds. Nestle is having the same problem with marketing upscale chocolates--people instantly think, "Nestles? Making fine chocolates? Nahhhhh--they make cheap candy bars."

Yeah. McDs may want to switch to a more urbane clown.

Well, I for one am excited. As a coffee drinker I love the new coffees at Burger King, and now McDonalds? Cool news!
How many times have you got a coffee at some convenience store and ended up with a cup of dung broth?
McDonalds <confetti> way to go!

We have quite a few brands up here: Peet's, Thomas Hammer, SBC, the ubiquitous Starbucks and a half dozen more, but one that I can't easily find here is Tulley's; now there's a brew that is true!

Do you have Seattle's Best there? There's one in the casino at the Gold Coast in Las Vegas, where my brother and I recently discovered a pastry called a "Seven-Layer Bar."

That thing ROCKS. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif It's like a cross between German chocolate cake and a Rice Krispies Treat. Way tasty.

On-topic content: I rarely do fast-food breakfasts. Sometimes I'll stop at the store after one of my overnight shifts and get something to nuke at home, though.

I haven't seen the SBC stands here, but their coffee is available at some of the better markets. As for the treats...I'd probably go into insulin shock if I ate one of those yummy things!

We have a Zack & Dani coffee roaster; talk about making coffee that rocks! We brew the beans, let them sit for about an hour, then grind 'em up into our coffees.

Short of having the mythical figure of Juan Valdez pick the beans the same morning, you can't get much fresher than that!

Well Ryan, they are going to force the little man out of biz. I have tried McD's Iced Coffees and they are not that good.

Never have tried SBC as we don't have those in VA.

After seeing a mouse on the floor of a McD's in Elk Grove one morning, and the manager commenting that 'someone must have brought it in on their shoe' I haven't set foot in one since.

Enjoy the new selections http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I won't be http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Well if they are not that good then maybe the little man can have a competitive edge?

I haven't had anything from McD's in ages. It all tastes like cardboard.

I love 7-11 coffee, and have it quite frequently. No way am I going to shell out $4 -$5 a cup for Starbucks coffee!!! The big big cup at 7-11 is only about a buck fifty with all the foo-foos you can pour in it. Large variety too, in an excellent cup to carry around at the Swapmeets. I do like Micky Ds Hash browns, but they are too pricey. The only thing I frequent McDs for is the French Fries (also way overpriced) and the spicy chicken sandwiches (McChicken) that are fairly priced ($1). The best deal on Fast Food breakfast is at Jack in the Box for their Breakfast Jacks. Ham, Egg, Cheese and a bun for a buck. Thats affordable and 2 of them fill you up pretty good.

Well, you'd think one right in the middle of the floor in front of the area where they place your orders would have been noticed more quickly instead of myself and a few other patrons having to point it out.....

And then they took their sweet time sending someone out to take care of it. The poor guy who sweeps the floors ultimately got the task of removal, which I'm sure impressed the patrons there. But I didn't witness that part of it, I was out the door already with refund in hand at that point.

The managers nonchalant attitude though tells me that you're probably right http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

You can look at NYC restaurant inspections online. (http://167.153.150.32/RI/web/index.do;jsessionid=3D16B2434E13AFC783E1E451DB2316 64?method=goldenAppleList)

You might be tempted to never eat at a NYC restaurant again.

I won't mention the place, but its always a good feeling to be sitting in an establishment eating and watching the health inspector putting up a "conditional pass" notice in the window mid-meal too http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I've seen the expose on those places. You'd think though that you would remove things that visible to the public a bit more quickly than the time it took for me to order, then get back into line and request a cancellation of said order and refund.

The manager was miffed to have to do it too, but I wasn't the only one who did.

You'd think that the kid who walked in with his mom and said "EWWW MOMMY A MOUSE!" would have put the spurs into the manager too. I guess she didn't want to clean it up herself, by the look on her face I knew she wasn't going to.

Oh well. I'm sure they have plenty of other patrons and won't miss my business. I had already cut way down on going to fast food places, that incident made them basically "last resort" for me http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I stopped at the local coffee house the other day and asked the girl behind the counter for something strong to pep me up. She offered me something new. They now serve a coffee drink with 12 shots of espresso. She told me they had a regular who was a truck driver and that was his favorite. I told her I'd rather eat coffee grounds and got my usual chai tea latte.

Anyway, more power to McDonald's. Their food is terrible, but at least their coffee is slightly above average.

Best expresso and cappuchino I had was at the UN cafe. Not the tourist one, but the one way down in the basement where the delegates and staff go.

"Waiter, there's a fly in my soup!"

"There can't be--they're all in the raisin bread."

The only item that I'll eat from McD's is the McPig, a.k.a., their pork sandwich; at least it has some semblance of taste.

I usually brew my own coffee and use the Coffeemate creamers, usually vanilla...

I stopped buying Starbucks when I realized I was paying $32 per gallon of coffee... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif and I thought $3.29 per gallon of gas was bad...
