Not the first time Motorola was in the ham market. They made ham VHF-FM rigs back in the 70s and they were actually quite good. Not as "feature packed" as the Japanese stuff, but better performance.

I look forward to saying, "The rig here is a Motorola FT-2000D, made by this American company's Japanese subsidiary."

As a real estate oriented guy, you remember all to well the Japanese buy-out of America in the 80's, and it shows.
