I don't care for the slashemup horror shows, but do enjoy a good Ghost story. Shows that show true terror without all the blood and guts. But there are exceptions!

"MOTEL HELL": Tries to be a slashemup, but is so outrageous it is really funny!!

"PSYCHO": From the master of Terror himself

"Cape Fear" was pretty good, both editions.

And a new show just out on DVD that was surprizingly good. In fact, I give it my vote for the best Scary show ever!!
"1408" with John Cussack. John is a Ghostbuster type who goes to a fabled NYC Hotel with a Haunted room. Boy, is it haunted!!!! This is a show that leaves you exhausted by the shows end!! And it doesn't end when you think it does!! What a show!!!!

I don't like any Halloween movies. #I never would pay to see any. #I saw the beginning of a few that I can't remember on TV.... and changed channels.

They may be part of the dumbing down of Americans. #It is no wonder that when Americans are polled a significant number of them say that they believe that there are ghosts.

Life can be horrible enough without paying and or spending time on horrible nonsense.

w2ilp (I Like People)..who are real and alive.

PS..(I LIKED PSYCO) but it was not a halloween movie...It was psychologically possible...although the shower scene was horrible. Hitchcock's stuff can be considered classical now.

Nothing wrong with a little mindless fun through watching a movie made to scare the crap out of you.

My two favorites are the original Halloween and Salem's Lot.

There was one that was done when I was a very little tike in my hometown of Lawrence, KS. It was "Carnival of Souls". I can watch it and it takes me back to the downtown scene form 40 years ago.

Very corny movie though. Absolutely the worst acting.

The other scary movie that was done there was "Linda Lovelace for President". We also had "the Day After" with that scary Jason Robards.

Not Halloween related but I saw Phantasm as a kid. Scared the holy crap out of me. It was months before I could stand in front of a mirror after that movie.

Even today that movie has me affected. There is a full length mirror on our closet door and I can feel the hair on my neck standing up when I'm in front of it and it's dark and quiet in the house.

The ones that scared me as a kid.

The House On Haunted Hill ( Vincent Price)

Frankenstein 1931 ( Boris Karloff)

The Blob (Steve McQueen)
I used to eat at the Vale Rio Diner in Phoenixville PA. This was the diner that was featured in the film and is still there.

The Mummy 1933

King Kong ( The Original)

The Thing (James Arness)

And many others

Here is a list of someone's opinion listing the top 100 horror movies.
