A traffic stop in Texas yielded about two dozen embalmed heads. But it's no Halloween joke. Investigators said the human heads had been used for medical training in the Fort Worth area and were being returned to Little Rock, Arkansas.

More police state action. The driver was speeding. They should have given him a speeding ticket and let him go on his way. Since police cannot just stop and search a vehicle at random, minor "traffic violations" make a convenient excuse.

Another tactic is "universal carding" for alcohol and cigarettes. There is more to it than the idea that stupid retail clarks cannot tell by looking that a 60-something is old enough to purchase. There was as story in the local news the other day about a guy who was arrested as a fugitive because he failed to appear in court for a disorderly conduct and public intoxication charge a couple of years ago. The man, in his 50's, had gone to a quick-stop to purchase cigarettes. The clerk carded him, and they must have some kind of watch list to alert for possible fugitives and criminals. The clerk alerted police, and before he had finished the transaction, the cops were right there to arrest him.

They scan dl's at walmart and other stores. Probably wired into the local PD. They ID older folks even to buy some non-alcoholic drinks because MADD thinks they are "training beers". When they figure out how much alcohol there is in ripened fruit that will be the end of the roadside fruit stands. I have two peach trees in my yard, they'll arrest me for bootlegging!

After reading more about this, it was stated that this driver was acting suspiciously when pulled over, probably because he knew he didn't have the correct bill of lading for transport. Not having the correct paperwork on ANY truck gives the police probable cause to search the truck. I would rather have this happen and find nothing dangerous instead of finding a truckload of chlorine gas or something after it's too late. The man was not cited. This is not "Police state action".

Royse City is a small town on I-30 just east of Dallas. This particular "traffic stop" was the "comedy relief" on all of the television and radio news for a couple of days.

Says one head to another: "I'm feeling a little light, do I look ok?" Head replies: "You think you feel bad? I'm a basketcase!"

That's alot of head!

They can look at mine; I'll hold it up where they can see it, without removing it from my wallet. But I'll be damned if they will scan it. I refuse to let anyone put me in their data base unless I believe they have a valid reason.

The guy who owns the business where I bought a tire some time ago is about 35 years old. He told me some place recently carded him before they would sell him a box of matches! And I have heard of some locality where they won't sell unfermented grape juice to minors.

Why don't people put up some resistance to this crap? It's getting totally ridiculous. But 99% of the public just sheepishly goes with the flow without even questioning it. Before we know it, they'll be requiring us to let them scan our ID for every purchase, for every item, cash or credit, and those not carrying documents on their person will not even be able to buy food.

I'm 65, and make it a point to raise hell with a store every time they try to card me for alcohol. I went almost 40 years without ever being carded, and now, within the past 2-3 years, I have been carded more often than I ever was when I actually looked like I might have been too young.
