View Full Version : NASA: Earthquake & Tsunami Affected Earth
Quote[/b] ] NASA scientists using data from the Indonesian earthquake calculated it affected Earth's rotation, decreased the length of day, slightly changed the planet's shape, and shifted the North Pole by centimeters. The earthquake that created the huge tsunami also changed the Earth's rotation.
Dr. Richard Gross of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., and Dr. Benjamin Fong Chao, of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md., said all earthquakes have some affect on Earth's rotation. It's just they are usually barely noticeable.

The massive earthquake off the west coast of Indonesia on December 26, 2004, registered a magnitude of nine on the new "moment" scale (modified Richter scale) that indicates the size of earthquakes. It was the fourth largest earthquake in one hundred years and largest since the 1964 Prince William Sound, Alaska earthquake.

I think the Earth is in "TILT" (think Pinball). The seasons are out of phase, Winter seems to start in Mid January and end in late April (Remember snowy Baseball games) and Summer starts in late May and ends Mid fall. (it still seems like summer here in NJ). Some say its Global Warming (It Plausable), I say its the Sun, and others say the Earth was knocked off by the Earthquake. All seem to make sense. Enjoy the ride, its goint to be thrilling.

It's probably the fact that such a lightweight is abiding in Washington, DC, where there used to be substantial weight there.
Or maybe it's the large number if dead people in Iraq.
Could be shifting world opinion about America.
Whatever...it's probably the fault of the FM.
Why do you hate the Earth so much?

I love America, and everything that it has traditionally stood for.
But, sadly, the current occupier of the Oval Office is doing us dirt. #He has shown absolute contempt for every American value that good, patriotic Americans grew up respecting and loving.
FM = F@#$% MORON
That's what w is.
He has used the office to act out his immature, insecure agenda to prove that he's a bad "MF".
Meanwhile, he's trashed America, and our reputation around the world.
WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THIS?
It is SO OBVIOUS to any thinking, partriotic American..why do so blindly support that FM?
Hope that answers your question.

Well, I don't know about propagation Bill, but I do know that the NASA release did mention that the pole has been moving at a cumulative rate with regard to earthquakes. And we've been having a lot more of those in the last couple of decades. So, in addition to the poles wandering off the way they normally do, earthquakes are adding to the rate at which they're moving.
Also not mentioned is that the Earth skips or jumps in it's orbit when a large quake hits. This is what changes the orbit. Must've been a fairly large jump, they didn't mention the effect much.
