KRNV story with video. (http://www.krnv.com/Global/story.asp?S=7162515)

Read the story, then watch the video.

Did the guy in the video do the right thing? Will he be charged with stealing the US flag? Will you send him money to pay the fine if he is prosecuted? Are people going to boycott the business?

Ignorance of the law is no defence http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

At least you've got people prepared to stand up for your flag - over here it's a different story http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Now what I really loved was this in a follow-up story: Quote[/b] ]The ACLU of Nevada is concerned about recent media reports that it is "illegal" to fly foreign flags over the U.S. flag.

While there is indeed a federal law regulating the display of the U.S. flag, that law is merely advisory and simply codifies standard government practice in displaying the American flag.
OK... let's see if we've got THIS straight...

It's against the law -- a Federal Law -- but that's OK, it's not "illegal", because (in the opinion of the Nevada ACLU) that's just "advisory."

Read that again. It's against the law, but it's not illegal.

Right. ("No no, it's a Left!" Nick Danger, Third Eye)

If it's against the law, isn't it by definition illegal? Even if there are no penalties in the law against it (whether or not there should be being a different discussion)?

Ooops. I did it again. I applied logic to the situation. Sorry about that. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blues.gif
