Just looking for someone out there that would like to talk about railroads or model railroads on HF. #Any takers?

If I ever hear that subject on the air, I'd surely join in. Maybe you could start a net on 40 for that and find a few takers. I get on some mornings with my coffee, and hate to bust into an old gents club that's already tight, but do like to chat a bit.
If you want, I can send you a good list of my bookmarks where I go to chill out, with all sorts of pictures, as well as some discussion boards, but that's computer stuff. Good luck with the idea.

I don't know that much about trains, but would love to listen. Who knows, I might even learn something. Post a time and place and I will try to make it.

Use to work at building them. Now work on supplying parts for locos.
Let us know day, time, and freq. I'll be there.

Many years ago I worked on the Turbine Powered trains that ran from New York to Buffalo and were built by ROHR Industries in Chula Vista, CA under license from ANG in France. I worked as a Field Service Engineer and Maintenance Instructor for ROHR.

If you can find an aussie friendly time on the weekend I wouldn't mind seeing if I can get across! Used to be a bit of an N-scale model railroader myself years ago...

That sounds like a cool net in the making. I used to own a hobby shop that sold mostly N and HO scale goodies. I really enjoyed the train shows. I was also involved in 12" to the foot scale. Our club had 4 miles of track, 2 locos, and 25 pieces of rolling stock. That was a blast.
I never heard of anyone try railroad mobile on HF. I have done VHF and UHF mobile during live steam excursions. That got some interesting looks from other passengers.
I can only work 10 through 20 meters on HF, but maybe I can link to you via IRLP on 2-meters. Otherwise, trying to cover Guam, Australia, and most of North America simultaneously will be tough.

Yes,
I am interested, guess we need to come up with a time and frequency. Only wire dipoles here though.

On Friday nights on 3.930 there is a net called the C&O/B&O net that meets around 7 PM CST. The net is out of Ohio and we get guys from all over the states check in. I have not been on much, but we pretty much talk anything rail or ham related!!

Usually when I get on the radio, it's after 7pm on weekdays, or the 10am-12pm timeframe on weekends. #We could set up something in the 40m General band for a weekday....
