View Full Version : Rudy Judy-pecked?
Quote[/b] ]Hold on, it's Judi.
That's the stunning line Rudy Giuliani told an already-skeptical crowd of gun enthusiasts yesterday when he abruptly interrupted his speech - to take a call from his wife.
The interruption drew awkward laughs and some outrage from the 400 National Rifle Association members on hand in a Washington, D.C., hotel ballroom...
The Rudy-Judi phone call had political observers wondering whether Giuliani was too beholden to his wife, or just pulling a deliberate stunt to diffuse the tension with NRA members.
University of Virginia professor Larry Sabato said the phone call was inappropriate.
"Rudy was rude. Nobody does this. Can you imagine a president doing that? 'Can you wait a second, folks. It's my wife on the line?' " Sabato said.

It had to have been a stunt that backfired. Even Giuliani is not that stupid, though he might be that arrogant.

You nailed it, Albert. It was a stunt. A poorly planned and executed stunt - and Mr. 9/11 really thought he could pull it off.

I would lean towards it being a stunt but do you remember his brat Andrew at his inaugural speech, phewie...
If you didn't see that one what happened was his kid was standing to the side mimicking his actions and pretending to be making the speech. It was really weird... too bad I don't know if there is a video of it available on youtube will look it up and post it here if it exists
PS: No video but a subtle reference to it at wiki

Andrew first became a familiar sight by misbehaving at Giuliani's first mayoral inaguration, then with his father at New York Yankees games, of whom Rudy Giuliani is an enthusiastic fan; Andrew also was an accomplished junior golfer.
They say misbehaving it stuck me as way beyond that...

Quote[/b] ]Most Americans understand it takes an extra chromosome to run for President, but there are some limits on odd behavior. Which makes us wonder what Rudy Giuliani was thinking last Friday when he accepted, and even flaunted, a phone call from his wife Judith in the middle of his speech to the National Rifle Association...
...His campaign aides spun the episode as a "candid and spontaneous moment" illustrative of the couple's affection. We might believe that if we hadn't heard stories of similar behavior by Mr. Giuliani as he has campaigned around the country...
...Mr. Giuliani has run an impressive campaign so far, especially on the issues. He has a record of accomplishment in New York, and he projects the kind of executive competence that many Americans want in a President. The rap on his candidacy, however, is that his personal history and behavior are simply too strange for someone who wants to sit in the Oval Office. Voters will decide whether that's true, but if nothing else Mr. Giuliani ought to be aware of this vulnerability and do nothing to compound it.
"That was just weird," one NRA audience member told the New York Post about the phone interruption. Mr. Giuliani doesn't need more weird.

I absolutely HATE to see "diffuse" used insteadof "defuse". http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
ALong with conservatives, grammar isn't safe from the liberal press anymore. Who is teaching these people?

Of COURSE it was a stunt.
Any other person making an important speech would have turned the %*&%^&*%&*%^&* cell phone off!

I assume that, like most meetings of that sort, the attendees were asked to turn off their cell phones so that they could give their undivided attention to the speaker. #If a speaker cannot give me his undivided attention, he does not deserve mine. #
The above comments have no bearing on my political philosophy but on courtesy.

It's the result of government schools! This is another reason we should vote for Ron Paul, and watch the Department of Education get abolished! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
