Hi All,
with the Icom 7000 which antenna tuner do you all use. Because of the better half I will be using a wire antenna and would like the tuner in the shack. I figure I can run about 140 feet of wire if that make any difference.
Thanks for all responces

Jay, let me describe my installation:
My IC-7000 feeds a short piece of coaxial cable to an ICOM
AH-4, mounted under the eave of our home, AH-4 uses about
50' of 450 Ohm commercial window type ladder line to a
wire dipole 175' per leg (not critical)
and apex up 55' on my tower.
This system works well all bands 160 - 6 full power from my
IC-7000. Get's consistently good reports.
E-mail me at w4glm at arrl dot net if you would like
some pic's.....Mac

Hi all,
I also have an Icom 7000 and was wondering the same question. I see that Icom have the Icom AT180 which buy the way is quite expensive down here in VK land. I have also seen that LDG make an LDG AT7000 suited for the Icom 7000. It costs much less than the Icom AT180, is much smaller and has a lot more memories too. It also comes with the coax patch lead and lead to go from the Icom 7000 to the tuner. Everything you need, just plug in and play. I am currently looking at them both and will make a decision soon.

Hi,
I just got the LDG AT7000 and it is a perfect match for my 7000. Tunes 6m too. I would recommend this ATU esp if you have a Ic-7000.

LDG AT-7000 hands down. Seamless operation.
I use the LDG 7000 with an Icom 706 MKIIG ...never had a problem ..works perfectly on all HF+6m bands.

I used the LDG RT-11 Remote Tuner with my 7000. It did work just fine. However the RT-11 is no longer made, but don't think you can go wrong with any version of an LDG tuner. They do interrface nicely with the radio.
I use an IC7000 aboard a large ship. I use a 35 foot whip and currantly the ah4 coupler. its always best to use a coupler at the load (the ant for xmit). Have had excelent results with this set up. have also used an SGC smart tuner which I prefer. It was just easier for me to get the ah4 in singapore. If I had my choice I would have gone with the SGC. No problems with the ah4 however. It would not tune the ant on 160.. the SGC would.. no problem for me but it could be an issue for others. the
SGC had a more heavy duty apearance but that was simply esthetics..
good luck..

Lee it is refreshing to see someone else with the same thoughts .. tuner at the load. We do that with aircraft and still some people cannot understand why ..
That is why Collins made pressurized couplers..!
I happen to have some pieces and parts from a pressurized collins coupler off of a ship. It had one of the few collins shipboard stations that I sailed with. Only problem was the solid state xmtr was very expensive to maintain. I have the vacuum variable caps and the motor driven coil out of the coupler. That was all I could fit into my seabag when they replaced the HF comerceal station.

Lee you have a gold mine. If you have the motor drive for the variable caps as well ... build yourself a great coupler..!
I envy you..! Wish I could get my hands on a couple of the avionics couplers .... then I would be happy..!
By the way Lee, the avatar is our antenna farm in Cedar Rapids, taken in the early 60's. Some of it is now gone.
Was thinking of putting them up for swap. Just gotan email that promised a cute vinal call sign sticker for posting an ad in a new site. I really dont have a use for a high power coupler. Have found that 100 watts does a good enough job for hobby comms.
