Don't get your hopes up. It's just vacation time.
Our twenty fifth anniversary was last November, but we didn't have the chance to celebrate, so we're off for two weeks of second honeymoon, starting tomorrow.
Be seeing you.

Have a wonderful time, Martin. Rest assured, little will change in your absence. Both the rock and the hill will still be here when you return, and the work may continue.

Martin, you may ought to rethink your anti-religious sentiments, because it is obvious to us all that your wife is a Saint of the highest calibur.

What ?? Leaving for vacation ? Vacation is no excuse for not being on line and posting here regularly. Why, with todays array of mobile and portable devices a vacation should enable you MORE time to be doing the important things in life like, reading emails, instant messaging, and, of course, posting to QRZ.
Enjoy the vacation.

Thank you all for your kind regards.
Now that we've been here a week, it's probably obvious to everyone, but just in case: we came to London. We're staying in a B&B in South Kensington, which has wifi broadband (for a mere five pounds per day) and I'm on for a couple hours each day.
For the most part we're enjoying London attraction, but yesterday we took the train out to Shrewsbury to see the Abbey and Castle, as my wife is a big fan of Ellis Peters' Cadfael.
I, of course, can't be bothered to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road, so instead of hiring a car, we've learned to appreciate the London underground system.
Cheerio
Congratulations on the belated anniversary. London sounds like a great choice for a great escape. And don't let Captain Lexicon make you spend all your time in a dictionary either.

It is good to be home.
My wife figures we walked between 40 and 50 miles and my scale says I lost 10 pounds.
London is a fabulous, albeit expensive, place to play tourist. The underground works well, there is a lot to do -- we barely skimmed the surface in two weeks -- and there's plenty of good food to be had.

Welcome back.
I like London, it's a huge old city with fabulous landmarks and some really great museums, aquariums -- and flea markets! The "fleas" have some great deals for locals and tourists and I never escape without buyind at least a few old copies of the "Beatles" magazine or something (25p when they were new, about $20 each now).
The line for the Eye is always too long, they should do something to manage that ride better.
Big Ben's clock often doesn't really work.
The street vendors selling roasted nuts reminds me of NYC, Phila, etc. Great smells, great stuff.
Pubs don't have sufficient seating. But they have way more than enough TV screens.
I think English food is terrible. But there's always lots of Chinese, Indian, Thai etc. restaurants that are great, so we eat there.
Did you go to any of the flea markets?

Either we got lucky, or they've improved the lines for the eye. We went on a weekday morning around 11 and had about a 3 minute wait to buy tickets and about the same to get on, ie, no real wait to speak of.
My wife quoted someone I can't recall to the effect that 'the only way to eat well and eat English is to eat breakfast three times a day.' The B&B we stayed at had excellent breakfast fare. Beyond that I agree with you. We had a great time trying different take away places. Within three blocks of the B&B in various directions there were four Middle Eastern places, three Thai restaurants, a couple of French places, several pizza places and a Chinese place.
The Brisith Museum and the V&A both had good, albeit pricey, fare. We had salmon and cream cheese bagels that were good enough for California, although not New York, and brie and cranberry on a baguette that was quite tasty.
We only got to the Greenwich market, which was pretty good, and not to any of the real flea markets. Bought some inexpensive jewelry for the granddaughter in Greenwich.

You missed out on a great piece of London by missing the real fleas. They are truly great, and I enjoy them much more "there" than the ones we have here at home.
A great one, when you get back to visit, is Camden Passage. Like with all the fleas, you park far away or take a cab and then walk and walk and walk. I saw radio equipment used by the Brits in WW2 (very similar to our WW2 surplus stuff, but this was in much better shape!) and was very tempted to buy some of this stuff but it's very heavy and I didn't feel like lugging it several blocks back to the rental car -- also didn't feel like figuring a way to pack it for the flight back. But tempting because it was so shiny and in great condx. Looked like stuff that could work CW and "MCW" on 80 and 40 meters. All the "valves" were in place, and the chassis didn't even have any dust. Somebody had taken great care of these things.
Just outside Camden Passage you walk past the previous home of Aldous Huxley. I almost got high just breathing the air. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
