Hi.
Living in a confind space with no real place to errect a large antenna I was wondering if the Atlas-120 would work ok with the ATBK-100 VHF/UHF base kit.
Has anyone tried it,any good??

Hi, simular problem solved. I bought a FT897, looked at the ATS antennas...bought a High Sierra HS1800..if one is to use this type antenna on a fixed, non mobile installation, you need a counter poise.the HS manual says use 33, 16 and 8 lengths of wire as counter poise, if i remeber correctly, I made two runs in each direction around my patio, 33,16,12,and a 8 foot. the HS tunes 10 to 80 with no problem. runs lots of wire.....I used 12 awg as i had plenty of it on hand.

EEB/BRA in the states there are many ops who use one version of a screwdriver antenna or another ... coupled with adequate radials they do an acceptable job .. not the best mind you ... but they do get on the air and well.
Go for it .. better than no antenna at all or a compromise.
