3B7 - DXpedition to St. Brandon
(Isle du Sud, AF-015)

G3USR, GM3POI, N6HC, K3NA, G4TSH, G3XTT, G3SVL, G3NHL, G3IZD, G3BJ, G0OPB, EI5DI, DL7AKC, DK7YY, 9M6DXX, SM5GMZ, MD0CCE, G3NUG, as well as N6OX will be active September 7th (0000 UTC) through September 24th with twelve stations simultaneously.

There will be monobanders for 30 through 6m and verticals for the lowbands.

On August 12th the container arrived on Mauritius with six big (5 kVA) Diesel generators. They also looked for a special authorization for 6m, usually not available on Mauritius. Three fixed frequencies have been authorised for them: 50.090 (CW), 50.102 (CW), and 50.145 MHz (USB).

After uploading the logs to their website http://www.3b7c.com , their software will show the 30 top DXers with the biggest amount of bandpoints (= QSOs in CW, RTTY, PSK, SSB and FM per band).

Feedback messages can be sent by e-mail to 3b7c@g3wgv.com and will be made available to the team on a daily basis.

QSL via Neville, G3NUG, direct or via bureau or by LoTW. There will be an online QSL request on their web page too.
SWLs will have BRS32525 for a seperate QSL manager.

They will use split frequence for nearly all QSOs on these frequencies:
(Please see http://www.southgatearc.org/news/september2007/3b7_st_brandon.htm for operating frequencies)

The team will be producing a video about this DXpedition.
You may order the DVD on the 3B7C homepage.

Any body know what the Split will be? Their site does not say.

Lets hope these operators or better then the past string of DXpeditions. a split of 5-10 up is MORE then enough. Only the DX operators can control the mob. If the mob won't follow directions move to a different frequency or shutdown for a period. It is time the DXpedtion operators regain control. Don't get me wrong I love chasing DX as much (or more) then the next guy but I don't care how rare a station is they have no right to tie up 30 to 50 KC's of spectrum and this responsibility falls squarely on the DXpedition operators shoulders.

Absolutely correct and well stated.....See you in the pile-up!

3B7 is only #45 on the most wanted list (or it was before the last 3B7SP group came on line this past spring). My guess its in the low 50s to 60s in terms of demand. So, the piles should be smaller than the demand for, say, the #1 most wanted entity in the world...

My opinion, the big gun will still want to say "I worked 3B7C St Brandon", the pile ups will still be huge. I do believe it will taper off until the last hours when as usual caos will reign.

They were 539/599 with me on 20 from 1700 to 1900 in NE GM, I could hear them best on 14021.6 and worked them 2.6 up at 1756 zulu. They are giving the call out
and asking for replies "3 up" but some people STILL
tune up and call them on their calling frequency !!!

Just worked them (I think) on 30 CW. They are weak, but workable.

So far, a bust. Have yet to hear them on one time. Not much of an "expedition". Would have expected them on 20 meters as a minimum.

What are you talking about? #They've been all over the place from 10 meters to 160 meters. #They've got 20,000 QSOs in the log already.

----Check that, almost 30,000 now.

Hard to hear on the West Coast. Have tried 20m (best chance) but no luck. Probably because of band conditions. Anybody in the west had better luck?

Come on sunspots!

Long path has apparently been good on 20 from the Left coast.

Pretty good signal on 40m here earlier tonight. Didn't have much time to play radio and half of the aerial wasn't up properly but they were still putting in a fair showing! Pity people were tuning right over the top of the freq they were calling on but hey, lids will be lids!!

They were pounding in here on 30CW and 40SSB today. I managed to work them on 40SSB.

I've not heard them on 20, but they are there. I hear the pileups.

I must say they are a very classy dxpedition. Very well organized and working with propagation, not just random.

Worked them yesterday SSB longpath on 14.145. #Very easy, no pileup and they were calling CQ! #My wife (KZ6MOM) and I got them both on our first try!

Our QTH is between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe California.

Due to work I have not been on the air much but managed to work them on 20M SSB 9/15. Nice operation from what I heard calling on 1 frequency listening on another (which he identified every qrz.) A pleasent change from the " listining 5 to 10 up'' or worse operations. I hope these folks show high Q counts to demonstrate to the others there is no need to take up big sections of the band that seems to have become the norm. Hats off to the good operators and excellent operating practices. Lets hope others can learn from your example.

Got them on 17 Saturday, No luck on 20 or 40 yet. Unless the sky gods help 10,12, & 15 will be a wash on the east coast.

15 is possible, but you have to have something up HIGH to make that path - for the most part.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Just worked them on 40M CW! I had listened to them on a couple of different nights, but the pileups seemed too large for my modest station. I turned off the radios and spent the day doing other things, including re-working my north-south dipole. All I can say is...Wow...What an antenna check! I was REALLY excited to work these guys simply because I had not expected to. Great work guys!

They are doing an outstanding job of turning out the contacts on all of the bands.
