Hi all,
I have been looking around at all the logging software and could do with some good advice on the matter.
At present i am trying N3FJP's software which seems ok, but before i buy it i wanted to find out if there is a market leader, and if so why.

I am a mobile station so i will be looking to use some form of phone or PDA and then back up to my pc.

Many thanks

I have tried several different programs and always come back to N3FJP's software. I like it plain and simple, for me it is a good fit.

I'm leaning towards XMlog, I use windows 98 and Linux, and I couldn't get Ham Radio Deluxe to run in 98. XMlog is free too.

XMlog seems to have what I need, is simple, plus it has awards tracking. I could not get this to run on Linux no matter how I tried (I tried Cedega & Wine so far).
But it will do for windows 98. I like the interface.
For Linux I tried xlog (too simple), and klog (nice, but it doesn't seem to let you put your contacts in with older dates)
And when I deleted one, it kept the old count, needs more work.
I do prefer a paper log, I'm trying these so I can get into Logbook of the World, I signed up and got my code.
Most of these apps will save as ADIF, so it can be signed and uploaded into LOTW.
By the way, the simple LOTW app called TQSL will let you create and edit a rudimentary log with just enough info for LOTW, which should be enough for most "paper buffs" to get on LOTW by itself.
The thing I like about XMlog is the awards tracking, edit functions and checking for dupes, etc. It does also have serial port apps, but I use old tube rigs.

The DX Labs programs work well.

N3FJP is what I use. I like it a lot and it interfaces with QRZ database to fill in Name and Location. Also, there are many other log programs available from him (contest, net, and several other). If you do go with N3FJP, I would suggest getting the full license for all programs.

My choice on Windows would be either Logger32 or the DX Labs suite. Since both programs were made by true hams, it's needless to mention that they are free of cost.

I tried a bunch of the free and pay/trial use offerings. I purchased the N3FJP logging program also. it works nicely, HOWEVER, I would like to have a field for my current location as I work 100% fixed mobile as we travel in our motorhome. The N3FJP offering does not have a field that can be used to log My current location with the ability to Dupe the location on subsequent QSO's. I checked with the authors office and found there is no provision for my need. Other than that it is a nice reasonably priced program. //
