View Full Version : More Proof That Conservatives Don't Read
Quote[/b] ]The Washington Times is a conservative daily newspaper published in Washington, D.C., with weekday circulation of about 100,000. (The largest daily newspaper in the city is The Washington Post, with weekday circulation of about 750,000 and Sunday circulation of about 1 million.) The Times is owned and influenced by Rev. Sun Myung Moon, who declared himself the Messiah in a March 2004 Capitol Hill ceremony. In a 2002 speech, Moon declared his political intentions for the Times, saying that "The Washington Times will become the instrument in spreading the truth about God to the world." The Times has operated in the red since it was founded in 1982; it loses an estimated $20 million annually and has lost an estimated $1 billion over its existence.
Yep, the message is sure not selling. Or Conservatives don't read.

Unfortunately, for newspapers, why read a tree when you have it online. The NY Times is having the same problem.

Actually, this is an industry wide phenomenon; check out the LA Times, NY Times, etc. All are seeing precipitous drops in circulation.
Why? It's easier to obtain a broader view of issues via the internet. The 'power of the press' has finally been defeated. Beware though, the federal government is attemping to restore that power through the Fairness doctrine.
Whats the point here? #I don't get the reason for your post at all. I think this post belongs in another post on here titled "From the Department of Useless Information".

NH provides hourly and daily negative news against Republicans and Conservatives. I guess he considers it his current mission in life, some of it is on target and some is borderline... But he does his part as best he can...
Maybe their watching Bill Maher.

What Mr Moon needs is a Page Three Girl. Show a different picture of a georgeous pneumatic breasted chick every day on page 3 and the circulation of his newspaper will increase by times 42"

Hello.
True, the newspaper is all but dead in most cities.
The Texas newspapers that I had delt with in the past had this attitude of "we are the press".
And we had to deal with it.
Now, the Saudi Arabian Public Information Office has media conferences that have no magazine or newspaper reporters.
Gone are the days when the SANG would provide air transport to the press, in the hopes of a good news piece, and I am very happy, reporters are the ultimate in prima donnas.
The next question, if this newspaper is running in the red, a billon dollars to date, why keep it running? and, where is the money coming from?

I always hoped the page 3 gals would be "gorgeous" instead of "georgeous".
Yes, our stateside newspapers' circulation would increase -- no doubt there!
There's nothing like a good pick-me-up first thing in the morning -- to get the blood a pumpin'.

The Times will probably be Murdoch's next takeover. Hooray!

Yes, it's nice to have one news source, one point of view, controlled by one man. You'd do quite well in Burma.
Okay, so how does one go potty on Sunday morning without the newspaper...... take the laptop? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Hello.
Yes, Murdock may end up controlling a fair number of newspapers across the land, but, as he said," I have poured millions of dollars into this internet and have yet to make a dime".
And, as far as carrying your news to the toilet? check this out.

Fascists make it very easy with their hate America attitude and their casual the voters be damned ethic. They don't need me or anybody else, they do it so well all by themselves.

Dunno.... but let's way that over left leaning papers and let's rate the amount of drops in subscriptions.
Even the old and wounded gray lady - the paper of record is reducing it's size. #I believe they're going to print 1/3 less fiction in their daily rag.
I would think that more conservatives read papers, liberals need the government to create an act of congress demanding liberal propaganda be distributed to each party members door at the governments expense.

[PEDANT]
It seems commentators of both stripes are too busy to proof read their posts. The proper contraction of "they are" is "they're" NOT "their" which is a possesive plural pronoun.

Edited for the anal retentives.
Forums aren't a place for literary prose, but I do stand corrected for such a simple and dumb mistake.

Well, duh. How much fiction can Murdoch manufacture in one day?
If, as you contend Jonathon, Conservatives more read papers, then why are the most conservative propaganda rags the ones losing the most money? The New York Post is a perennial loser and is often distributed free to inflate it's circulation. The Washington Times, despite having the re-incarnation of Jesus Christ as its owner, is bleeding to death in red.
There seems to be a slight paradox in your logic and the reality of their bottom line.

San Fran Chronicle circulation down >%20 in the last 3 years. I guess the Libbies don't read either.
More LIB radio failure, no surprise here.
