Note: #The following is my own opinion. #I believe that everyone has the right to their opinion, whither I like it or not. #I will respect your right to have your opinion and fight for that right, but at the same time...please respect my opinon as well.

From time to time, I have stopped and browsed through the topics on this forum. #There are those who blame Dub ya' for everything from the War in Iraq and Afganistan to their breakfast being cold or their getting a hang nail. #

There are also those who blame other political folks for the same thing others blame the President. #We COULD blame Congress, as they never do the PEOPLE's Business in helping this country have safer food, cheaper gas and utilities, but rather take obscene amounts of money from Special Interest groups to screw over the American people!

But, Congress is made up of people We, the PEOPLE elected to represent US in the House and Senate. #SO, who is really to blame for the mess WE are in?.....The answer lies in a cartoon that Walt Kelly did decades ago, called Pogo. #In the cartoon, Pogo, the main character said, with a cooking pot on his head, We have met the enemy, and it is us!.

We have failed, not only ourselves, but our children and grandchildren in not keeping the candidates on topic, and have instead let them sling mud at the other candidates and not talk about the issues at hand. #

So, the next time you're tempted to call the President everything but a Child of GOD #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif Stop and think, he's not the ONLY onion in the patch. #Remember, when you point a finger at someone, you have 3 coming back at YOU! #Oh, BTW, I'm including myself as well.

I may not agree with much of what Bush has said and done but I am powerless as the rest of us to do anything. What does he care, he can't serve another term so we are all S*** Outta Luck.

Think about that WHEN you vote next time, thus putting your pat of approval on the whole mess. In a nutshell those who should be denied the vote, vote and those who should vote see the folly of it all and don't.
We are locked into this situation with no relief in sight. As long as braindead patriots continue to perform their duty by voting there is no hope.

Don't tell the far left haters on this forum that! You'll be labled as a "Kon" and be called "Darth LQK."

Yep, I been through Shreveport and Bossier City quite a few times on my way home to Oklahoma when I was stationed at Belle Chasse, LA. Of course, this was back before they found out how to spell "I-49."

Politics has always been a low brow affair. The only difference now days is some politicians have put their own agenda ahead of supporting our troops and national security something you wouldn't have seen in the past to any large degree.

I do vote as I don't take the stance of "It's only one vote it won't make a difference". The problem is that to many people think that their one vote will not amount to anything, times that by several hundred thousand and there is a difference.

If there is no difference in the candidates, then voting doesn't make a difference.

Unless of course, you can see the difference between s*** and manure.

The voters, especially on the left are spineless. They COULD support a Libertarian candidate or some other third party but they are so afraid that they'll lose that they would rather do nothing and support the same old, same old.

Bush has failed in the one necessary element of great leadership. Connecting with the people. That's the one true criteria of great leadership, and he's alienated half the country, if not more. The greatest thing the man could have done for his legacy was to take his political victory, if you can call it that, in 2004 and mend fences. He could have found common ground on a couple of issues and forged a legacy. Reagan and Clinton both did it with opposition Congresses and are generally deemed as successful Presidents. Bush had Congress in his own pocket and the best he could do was Social Security Reform, Harriet Meyers, the Immigration Fiasco and a Prescription Drug Benefit that would make FDR blush. He sold out the true Conservatives in his party and at the same time failed to find common ground with his political opposition.
As for Congress, they did what they normally do. Members of the House, by necessity have to be political whores because they are up for election every 2 years. They are at the whim of their constituency. The Senate, by design, was given longer terms to insulate them against the whims of the people. They were given longer terms because it was thought that people who held position in the Senate would be above reproach. Well, some did fine, and some didn't.
Some good members of Congress were voted out last time because of the sins of some inept ones. Will the new ones do a better job? Nope. Just more of the same. Frankly, I'm not disappointed in Congress because I don't expect much from them.
Bottom line is that we ride a pendulum. It swings one way, and it works. Then it becomes ineffective so it swings another way and does the same thing in an opposite direction.
The GOP has controlled things for the better part of the last 50 years. The new political wind will blow and push things in the other direction. Democrats will have an opportunity and they will do OK for a while too. It's just the way it works.

Bitching about it doesn't solve any of the problems, but it makes some on here feel good for the moment.

In the news recently -- “Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) has decided to cut off funding for American troops while they are at war. The liberal democrat said Monday he wants to cut off money for the Iraq war next year, making clear for the first time that Democrats are willing to pull out all the stops to end U.S. involvement. Playing to his far left base, the US Senate leader said Monday that he will join forces with Feingold, one of the party's most liberal members who has long called to end the war by denying funding for it.” A disagreement over foreign policy between branches of government is one thing, playing politics with monies designated to support troops in the field is quite another.

The Libertarian philosophy is even further right than the Republicans so I seriously doubt if you will ever see a Democrat, leftist or liberal vote Libertarian. It would probably damage their mind if they did so. On the other hand the Green Party may be right up their alley if they are far enough left. However the majority of Democrats, leftists and liberals view the Green Party as being too far to the left.
