Just had an amusing antenna story and wondered what else is out there...
I have an 80M inverted-v at my Grandparents farm. The way it is supported is by some rope that was tied to the antenna, then thrown over a section of an old tower (Why didn't I use the tower? If anyone asks I'll answer that). I then used my Magical system to pull the antenna up to where I wanted to tie it off. It wasn't pretty but it worked. Well, 6 months later the rope broke and the antenna fell down to the ground, no biggie. So I go out there to inspect it, I pick up one of the wires and use a word I often use when soldering. I was shocked (literally). I thought maybe...no not possible. I went looking around and found that both legs of the wire had fallen across an electric fence. I didn't have gloves handy so I thought I could just suck it up and pull the wire off...doesn't work that way.
The type of fence is for cattle, when a cow or whatever touches it, it is just like a little burst, but if something (or in my case someone) is constantly touching it or holding for instance, it becomes continuous to keep the cattle or whatever out. If anyone is wondering the fence was on my Grandparents property, it was to keep goats out of their garden.
Remember people, common sense seems to be something Hams may have little of at sporadic moments
