How much is that doggie on the rooftop? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPpaJrJecjA)

No fan of PETA here, but I don’t think I would strap a cage to the roof of my car and drive off. In fact, it makes me think old Mitt has a few screws loose – thankfully not on the cage itself.

Can we just make him walk the plank now?

Mitt reminds me of Senator Geary in The Godfather. I'll bet even his bung vent is made out of plastic.

I had made the same observation to a friend last light. Mitts just the type in end up in a whorehouse, covered in blood, remembering the lady was alive.

Rudy Giuliani would be called to straighten things out and Mitt would owe him big time.

Sometimes time is irrelevant, how many years ago dit the Chapaquidic thing happen, yet it is like it was yesterday when it is necessary to slam uncle Teddy again.

People’s character does not change. If the EXPLETIVE DELETED was cruel enough, or stupid enough, or just plain uncaring enough to strap a dog cage to the roof of a car, he’d strap your EXPLETIVE DELETED, EXPLETIVE DELETED, where he EXPLETIVE DELETED pleased.

If you have not learned the lesson the people’s basic character does not change, you are one sorry sap.

Photoshop opportunity for one who knows how to do it:
Put the enzite grin onto Romney's face. I'd like to see that one. Probably wouldn't make that much of a difference over his regular grin anyway.

I feel sorry for the motorcyclists that may have been behind Mitt's car; a dog ridding of its waste at 60 MPH is a hard thing to dodge.

Of course, it was natural for the dog to be outside and in the wind: it was an airdale!

Seriously, I don't understand why people have the compunction to take their pets with them. It's not like the pet needs a vacation or a change of scenery to take time off from working. That, and people who have them uncaged inside a vehicle...that's just begging for an accident. Hey, maybe putting them on the car roof isn't a bad idea after all!

Guess the LIBS are having a hard time finding anti Republican stories today. This story is about 6 or 8 weeks old.

I think every time you neo-fascist throws out the word lib, I going to respond with this:

The term “lib” was created by the neo-fascist to denigrate and marginalize, first progressive social liberals, second, everybody who disagrees with them. The neo-fascists (read neocon) are a very smart breed. They knew the most base, the most ignorant, of the American populous were very easily manipulated by simplistic labels. They knew they had to go after the large minority of Americans who lack the ability for creative, analytical thought. I guarantee you, if you were to poll all the troglodytes around here who throw the term lib out like a stink bomb, you would discover that the vast majority, if not all, consider themselves fundamentalist Christians (although I suspect not Orv – whose positions are far right, has come about his viewpoint through reason – but he is clearly the exception).

One only needs to look to Nazi Germany to learn how easily a modern society is capable of much pliability when the proper words are used. To the silent majority out there – start listening, especially top the use of simplistic labels – this is how fascism is born in America.

Now, was it a cage made out of tiny metal bars that oppose no restriction to the wind, or a plastic cage with holes in the superior half, like the one I have?

It make a pretty big difference on the living conditions in the cage at 60MPH whether the wind goes through it or around it.

Hello.

I would also ask the same thing, was this a cage in the sense of a wire box, or an actual car carrier.
And, yes, some people insist on taking their animals everywhere, including on aircraft.
Have you ever seen how the stuff gets loaded on aircraft?
That stuff gets all but plopped on board, in a hurry.
Not that treatment of babies is much better, they are allowed to be put in the isle in the US, unsecured.
More than a dozen babies have died from falling luggage.
A few others have died from being thrown about the cabin in sudden motions of the aircraft or by being stepped on.
And we are worried about a dog?
Note that I am anything but a Republican, Democrat if anything, more a Kinky Friedman kind of guy.
http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/
I like Kinky 'cuz I know that I can always make him angry by knocking his hat off his head. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Kinky is about as pro-dog as you can get, and he has carried dogs in a trailer as well as a roof top carrier, not really a cage as such.
At this point I would very much like to see exactly how the dog was contained.
Perhaps it was just a wire cage, who knows?

There is an eyedrop commercial that stars a guy with a truly irritating voice. "Red eyes..." That guy is Ben Stein.

Ben Stein had a column in the late lamented LA Herald Examiner. Most of what he said made no sense, but he said it in an entertaining fashion.

He was obsessed with dogs in the back of pickup trucks. In his world view, they were miserable and terrified. Every dog I ever saw in a truck bed appeared to be having a grand old time. He mounted an ongoing personal campaign to end this practice. Doesn't appear to have been successful.

I'm wondering how many people here are campaigning for an end to dogs in truck beds. Or a requirement for airbag equipped dog cages bolted to the bed. Or if they even notice it everywhere you look. I think I'm seeing Indignation of Convenience here.

Regarding the notion that peoples character doesn't change: Why do we bother with priests, pastors, prisons, parole officers and psychologists? Hundreds of people whose profession has a primary initial P should be unemployed!

In my experience people calm down and mellow out after about 25. Get past the Darwin Years, see the effect of your nasty testosterone driven behavior on people who deserve better, you reign in your belligerent inconsiderate ways.

Maybe some people were testosterone deficient in their Darwin Years, so they never saw the change.

people in this area are a prime example. they NEED their dog like a child needs his thumb to suck on. it's like a status symbol, an extension of themselves. if someone's dog craps all over your yard it makes the owner feel good. they could never do that but the dog can get away with it.

I have seen twice, dogs hanging on the side of a pickup truck by the neck.
Not that I never did it, of course I did, my dog was always in the back of the truck, but I had an anchor in the center of the truck bed (in the left right direction) with exactly the right amount of leach so it got tight right at the moment the dog put its head over the border. It was even too short for the dog to put its front paws on the railing.

Dogs have a very good time in the back, but dogs are dogs, and you have to protect them.
