View Full Version : Just as a reminder...
If you're into meteor scatter, or just want to give it a try, this weekend is the annual Perseid meteor shower--the height of the "storm" being late Sunday night/early Monday morning. There will be a new moon this year so it'll be nice and dark for watching them, too!

Alas...it will still be broad daylight here in the land of midnight sun. Can we reschedule this event for the winter?

I usually don't run radios....
Gotta get a chair and run the eyeball detectors.
Absolutely funky.

Even though I have been licensed for almost 3 decades I only recently became interested in 2 meter and 70cm weak signal operating. With that said I put this question to the VHF guru's on the site.
1) What band is best to use (2 meters/70cm) ?
2) What time/times is it best to try calling ?
3) I am in FN20 with the Atlantic ocean to my east, what is the best beam heading to use ?
I have been looking forward to trying this type of propagation and know CW is best to use. Other than that I know verry little else about it and would appreciate some help from those who have done this a few times.
Tnx
