I recently made a trip to Austin, TX. Cleary Austin is the most beautiful city in America – sorry San Fran. We asked a local where to go for bbq and were directed to a place called Rudy’s. It was fab – best I ever had. Has anybody else been there? I noticed they have several around the South West.
We ended up driving through most of Texas. What a magnificently beautiful place.

I've eaten at a BUNCH of Texas BBQ joints. In my opinion Angelo's in Ft. Worth is THE best.
Main Street BBQ in Euless is my number 2 pick, but is only open on Fridays.
Yum Yumm. I am going to Ft. Worth next month and will be piggin out. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
By the way, I lived in San Francisco for a number of years and still consider it the most beautiful city in the USA. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

The next time you are in Central Texas go to Lockhart and there is a little place called Chisolm Trail BBQ that puts Rudy's to shame on price and flavor.

Texas BBQ is OK. Best BBQ in the world is a bit farther east of there. Greenbrier's in Huntsville Alabama. Now that's the real Greenbrier's, not the current restaurant by that name.
Best Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich west of the Appalacians comes from Sam's in San Jose California.
Best Kansas City style BBQ is done by the reverend Quincy in Milpitas.
Best Virginia BBQ is done by Uncle Frank's in Mountain View.
Why yes, I do live in BBQ heaven. Why do you ask?

The Rib Shack in Galesburg, Ill. has the best ribs I've ever had. They slow cook them for days, and the sauce is out of this world.
I'm getting hungry just thinking about them...

this could be the most controversial topic on the Zed #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif #BBQ is a very serious matter. Around here in central and eastern North Carolina, it's pulled pork with vineger based sauce. Very good, but when you eat it all your life it gets old. In the western part of the state it's chopped pork with a sweeter tomato based sauce, I don't really care for that. I would have to say my favorites are a good wood smoked Texas beef BBQ or some good old wood smoked Memphis pork ribs. Can't go wrong.

The best BBQ that I have found in Texas is at a place called "The Busy Bee" in Corsicana. It is a real "hole in the wall" but you have to wait for a table just about any time of day. It is just west of IH-45 at the main Corsicana exit.
For the "chain" type of BBQ "parlors" in Texas I like Dickey's. It beats Sonny's "hands down". Now in Georgia the "Hickory House" is, at least in my opinion, the best of the "chains".

If you're into BBQ sandwiches--and you happen to be in Seattle--go to Peco's down on 1st Ave across the street from Soho Plaza; it's about a mile or so south of the stadium. They're open from 11-3 during weekdays and that's it, so bring your appetite, a handful of napkins, and enjoy!

I have a passion for both tamales and BBQ, and what I find is that both are awesome with a great beer. And with enough beer even the worst examples of both can become favorites.
So drink water if you are trying to cast a judgement, otherwise enjoy.
This country has the world to blame for its food fetish.
God bless America.
Personally I like The Delta's Tamales, Carolinas pork BBQ, and Texas beef BBQ. But, that is subject to change during my next meal. Hot D@mn!

Pierce's Pit Bar-B-Que of Williamsburg, Va. #
This is the best authentic Tennessee-style pit-cooked pork bar-b-que you will find. #It has the famous slightly sweet, tomato-based sauce, with enough garlic to give that signiture kick and a tweak to the back of your jaw. #Add slaw and perhaps some onions and you have a sublime sandwich. #Side orders include fries, onion rings and hush-puppies.
Any time I head up to Virginia, I go out of the way to stop at Pierce's. #It IS worth the trouble. #If you go to Williamsburg for business or vacation, the trip isn't complete without stopping by this wonderful shrine to the bar-b-que gods. #Ask anyone in the region, they can direct you there.
Best in the world? #Damn right!!!!

Sprayberry's Barbeque (http://www.sprayberrysbbq.com/), in Newnan, Georgia. It was one of Lewis Grizzard's favorite barbeque spots. Alan Jackson waited tables there when he was in high school. Closed Sundays.
My childhood favorite was Culpepper's Plantation Pit in South Florida. A traditional tomato based sweet sauce, with everything cooked over real hickory in an open pit visible from the dining room. Our family would order 'The Feast', a huge platter piled high with barbeque beef, pork, ribs, chicken, baked beans, onion rings, french fries and cole slaw. Finished off with some of the best key lime pie I have ever tasted.

You blokes dunno what a real BBQ is....
Come visit me at OZ and we will give you the best BBQ inna world.A few cold stubbies and prawns to top it all off..Fair dinkum mate.
The best BBQ is very personal opinion. We have a locally owned place In Hopkinsville KY called The Woodshed. Outstanding in every respect. Not to get political but George Bush has dined there twice when he was campaigning in the area. I understand that during one of his visits to Fort Campbell (just south of Hopkinsville) he had BBQ from the Woodshed brought down to him.
However, if there is a consensus as to the best BBQ in the state it would be the Moonlite in Owensboro KY. Also outstanding in every respect and their Burgoo is a real treat. You do know about Burgoo don't you?
The family that owns the Moonlite did some catering in DC for some of Bill Clinton's get togethers.
So what is the best BBQ? It probably depends on where you usually go to get it. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sadly, the Red Pig Cafe closed in June. #Concord decided to build a huge new jail complex across from the courthouse. #You guessed it -- that's where the Red Pig stood. #After the condemnation procedings, the owners moved the business to the nearest feasible site: miles away at Carolina Mall. #
Their clientel (the judges, attourneys, plaintiffs, defendants, and clerks in the county court complex directly across Cabarrus Ave., not to mention the deputies and other workers in the County Sherrif's headquarters adjacent to the corthouse, and the many city employees in the huge new "white elephant" city office building across Church Street, and the many merchants and their customers down Union Street) could not follow. #They all used to simply cross the street to eat at the Red Pig. #They can't drive miles to the mall on a half-hour court recess or standard lunch break? #Few in downtown downtown, to be sure.
Chalk up another big plus for downtown redevelopment. #One more legendary peice of Americana bites the dust. #It is sorely missed.

Rendezvous is tied with Leonard's in Memphis in my opinion. Other good places in Memphis: Griddly's, Tops, Public Eye, and Corky's.
In Orlando there is Keller's and Conway's. In Nashville Whitt's is pretty good.

Sorry. #I wasn't very clear on that point, was I? #When Concord took over the original location and tore it down, the Red Pig Cafe moved to the mall. #Then, their regular customers could not patronize the business way out at the mall location. #With the expenive mall lease and fewer customers, the Red Pig Cafe went under.

Ok guys, Stubbies are small bottles of beer, normally served cold enough that your hands ache,& you have use what is called a "Stubby Holder",which is a purpose made sleeve of some insulating material, usually with a logo,or vulgar slogan on it.
Prawns are shrimps "on steroids".Seriously though, "king" & "tiger ' prawns are quite large!
"Fair Dinkum" is an archaic Australian term which can be used both as a question & as an affirmative, rather like a "Q" code:
"Fair Dinkum?"---Is what you are saying the honest truth?
"Fair Dinkum!"----What I am saying is the honest truth!
It can also be used as an adjective in " It's a fair dinkum bargain."
It is not that commonly used in everyday conversation.
There are a number of stylistic variations, such as "Fair Dinky -di", but these are mainly used ,along with "Cobber",by Brits making fun of us( & by gee, they do love to make fun!).
BBQ in OZ are something you do yourselves, rather than go out for-basically the same as your "Cookouts".
We have what are called "Steakhouses", which offer some of the stuff #your BBQ places sell.
After all this, I prefer #NA4BH's explanation!

I highly recommend a place in Revere, MA called "Uncle Pete's".
Out of all the BBQ places I have been to in the USA ,and around the world, his is the best by far!
Everytime I go there, I think of Wilma Flinstone pulling out that 7 foot rack of ribs out of the oven! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
