I quit using Fedora back at Core 3. It's too unstable and there's no upgrade path. Oh, and the end of life of each Core is usually 6 months after the release of a new one. Oh how I miss the consumer version of Redhat....

I run Ububtu now, but SUSE and Slackware are great too. I guess it's all up to what your tastes are.

There was no revenue in the consumer version of redhat since you could have always downloaded it for free anyways.

Anyways, the latest flex radio 5000 is running windows.
Linux seems to me is the more ham-radio-ish choice, being open source.
I'm not to fond of DLL-hell and BSOD on an HF radio.

There was no revenue because people didn't know what it was at the time. I personally bought RH 6.0, 7.0, and 9.0. It was the right price and I didn't have the bandwidth then that I have now. They offered to sell me an "upgrade" to RHEL Basic for more than 10 times what I paid for 9.0. Nope, sorry. My budget isn't that big for something I'm only playing with.

Anyway, I understand GNURadio is doing some great things. You might wanna check them out. I hate it so much I bought a Mac. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I switched to Ubuntu linux last year after running redhat since the early days. Much better product, although I have to learn where they hide files in different places than redhat.

We're also changing from redhat advanced server to SUSE at work.

I never did like redhat's wifi support. Ubuntu works out of the box, and fedora has to be manually set up.

I don't know what the purpose of fedora is, but it's no longer the prime candidate for home use.

Interesting. I just tried to load the DVD .iso file to set it up and it said "Access Denied", Strange, a DVD is Read only anyway http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Looks like maybe Fedora has "thrown in the hat"

I will check out SUSE. I have tried Ubuntu and it seems like it uses the Fedora core but has modified a few things too

I am coming to you right now from SUSE 10.2 a great operating system and VERY intuitive. Did a dual boot automatically w/o me even being aware of it! Fedora is still too buggy. besides, Novell is behind Suse now and it should be really good too!!
