DENVER -- An armed man who said that he would take over for the governor and tried to storm into the governor's office was shot and killed by state troopers Monday afternoon.

Ritter's spokesman said the man walked into the office and said, "I am the emperor and I'm here to take over city government."

I was going to say that this sounds like someone from QRZ but, I won't. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

This guy is obviously out of his mind. A right thinking person would know that the Governor is not city government. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Remember, this is Colorado, it might just be that the Governor is the city government out in the land of the Rocky Mountain high. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

DENVER -- The gunman who was shot to death inside the state Capitol may have been prepared for a shootout, but he never got the chance to pull his weapon out of the holster, Denver's chief of police said Tuesday.

Denver police Chief Gerald Whitman said that the gunman was armed with a fully-loaded, 7-shot, stainless steel, .357-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver.

He also had 20 additional rounds of ammunition with him

"It appears to be some type of mental issue that he had. He was proclaiming himself as the emperor of Colorado. He did that in an email. He mentioned that, in a way, to the store clerk. He said that again, up here, when the state trooper was challenging him. So it appears to be some type of mental problem," Whitman said.

Which one of you wants to be the emperor of Colorado?

What a difference 100 years makes.

This guy :Emporer Norton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_A._Norton)

declared himself "Emporer of the United States and Protector of Mexico". He held court in various saloons in San Francisco, and died a hero.

Our most recent Emporer, on the hand, chose instead to try to take over the Governor's office, leading to his demise. Obviously, it's all a matter of showmanship!
