VE7JAM at Pacific Scout Jamboree on until July 14
We are operating a Scout Activity Ham Radio Station at the Canadian Pacific Scout Jamboree (http://www.pj07.com) this week and are looking for all Scouting stations to give them 5 points for the Centennial Scouting award.
Activities at the station include:
• Bunny Hunting on 2 meters (Scouts who find the bunny get a badge)
• HF Station near Scout Frequencies
• Echolink
• eQSO (on English, or separate Scout Room 100Scouts)
• via IRLP node 1409 (a portable node brought to the Jamboree)
• VHF on the local 147.22 repeater, and simplex on the node freq. 146.415
• Scoutlink computers (all users end in _PJ07)
• 4 free VOIP phones from Telus (our local phone company) offering free 5 minute phone call home
Operators include scouters VE6DE, VE6SAF, VE6PSM, about 15 drop in Scouts and leaders so far from the Jamboree, and several local Sunshine Coast radio hams. We also have three full time helpers who are not radio hams.
There are about 2000 Scouts at the event, and 600 offers of service. The other big Canadian Jamboree is the Canadian Jamboree later this month which will be operating with callsign VE2CJCT. (also worth 5 points)
Hope to talk to some of you this week through one of our stations.
