Subject: Warning Notice -- Unlicensed Radio Operation
Dear Mr. Douglas:
Information before the Commission indicates that your tractor # 006, bearing DOT #738236 and MC #738236, was the source of radio transmissions on the Ten Meter Amateur Radio band (28.085 MHz) on August 23, 2006 at 1:55 PM. The location was North Carolina I-85 North and Highway 7.
Please advise your drivers that operation of radio transmitting equipment without a license is a violation of Section 301 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. Section 301, and will subject drivers to fine or imprisonment, as well as an in rem seizure of any non-certified radio transmitting equipment, in cooperation with the United States Attorney for your jurisdiction. Monetary forfeitures normally range from $7,500 to $10,000.
Please contact me at 717-338-2502 to discuss this matter. cc: FCC South Central Region

Here we go again and I still haven't figured out which CB channel that is.
Another warning, no enforcement, no big deal to the freebanders. Another ham headache and no painkiller.
The FCC serious about enforcing their rules? Son, go stand in the corner until you learn that lying is unacceptable behavior.

How about using your "trap antenna" to catch these "freebanders" ?

KC2RPP, et al...
The notice is dated 20 September 2006...So what has transpired in the interim?
Just one of MANY warning notices asking for further information and/or compliance that are sent out on a monthly basis by Riley Hollingsworth, Special Counsel for Amateur Radio Enforcement.
The only comment I'd make is that more staff collecting and documenting cases of interference and bad behavior, along with swifter conclusions to such cases when proven to violate FCC rules, be considered and budgeted for deployment.

Yeech ! Chicken Band #land of No Electronics Theory reruns of the 70's #where the Super Hero is eating a bucket of chicken, Should we bring back Chicken Man ?
Will they run the Movies of the 70's like dukes of hazzard, smokey and the Bandit V , cannonball run III, and the like.
modified radios to operate out of band which some are not able to transmit anyway, cranked up mike gains of sufficent splatter, turning up the Driver Circuits to think that they are getting out with more power and meter swings which will smoke up the transistors from overdriving, splatter and other technical words that some people do not understand.
In other words Yes the FCC should enforce the rules, CB Radio anyone operating that band should read part 95 in its entirety, while the rest of us laugh at the sheer nonsense of people who think that they know the theory and run equiptment that is no longer FCC Certified really have no clue.
IMHO : #Maybe its time the FCC and the manufacturers ought to design a Circuit that will render any radio in the CB Band useless, and that it will self destruct the radio in any form of illegal mods, place a warning notice on the radio stating such.
Scenario: #John A buys #XAZ brand Radio, takes it to a freind or some shop to perform a Illegal mod, a part is cut loose. upon reset the voltage jumps to 13.8 Volts and the main PLL board selfs destructs, loss of frequency and RF output goes to Zero Watts, and audio is lost.
Price of #Replacement part Supplier says not available and cannot cross it over.
Cool Idea ? #I think so. # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Instead of those custom self destructing parts wouldn't a trip switch and a block of C4 be cheaper?
"How about using your "trap antenna" to catch these "freebanders"?"
Nah, then I'd have to feed them and like I said, C4 is cheaper.

Hello.
What has happend since then?
A lot of companies prohibit any sort of "Ham crap" in any vehicle that they own or register.
And, yes, there are radios that do, in fact, blow out the CPU chip if an attempt to mod them is done.
Both the VX-7R as well as the VX-3R will blow it little CPU mind if you try to connect one of the digital bords to it.
The Japanese model works just fine.
But, a lot iof the people doing this on the "freebands" are using radios that have no FCC approval.
Several hams have argued that an amateur rig requires no FCC approval.
The CB shops argue that this POS radios that they sell are ham rigs.
So, where does this little game of footsie stop?
I like the fact that the FCC is sending out warnings.
And, trust me, the companies are doing something about it.
Quite a few now provide CB radios, some go as far as putting seals on the radios, break the seal and you got some splainin' to do.
And, "OH Ricky!" will not cut it. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif How about this for modified CB radios:
In every New Chicken band radio, have the manufacturer install a small piece of thermite, so that when a modification is attempted, the CPU in the radio would set it off and ruin the radio and the lid trying to modify it???
Used to occasionally see one of those devices in some of the older AN/APX-6( ) radar transponders.
Sounds good to me http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blues.gif
