And a Happy Fourth to you too. It is great to be reminded of the pillars of law that our country was founded on and the great statesmen that wrote those laws.

Withe the current crop in Washington, I had forgotten...

Absolutely!

I agree with John... with our current House and Senate - let's not forget what the 4th of July is all about.

I'm listening to a great history program on Sirus with Mike Church - it's all about the founding of this nation before and after the Declaration of Independence.

Very interesting history piece - so far, it's been on for 90 minutes, sounds like a history channel type documentary and still hasn't even passed the Declaration yet!

Happy 4th (soggy in southern New England).

Hahaha - next time the Geico radio commercial is on - turn up the volume!

The biker says his voice is like that from swallowing a lot of bugs!!!

Man, rain as far down as there, cloudy and gloomy here.

There will be a lot of Weekend fireworks though.

I also wish all a best and save 4'th.

We and our neighbors went to see a fireworks display last night in Berkley Michigan. After we parked, and walked 1/2 mile, we were told that no dogs were allowed inside the gates (the neighbor's, you can see that I am not a dog).

So we took our chairs straight across the road and set up. Best seats in town. Great show.

Very wet down here in south Texas as well. Luckily, we can see multiple shows in the area just by driving around for a few minutes. Best to all!

Storms were forecast for the Chicagoland area today, but they haven't developed yet. #Did rain last night though. #Our town had its fireworks show last Saturday. #Weather was perfect. #Chicago had its big fireworks show last night on the downtown lakefront along with the Taste of Chicago that's been on for awhile but soon to end.

Hope all had a good day.

Happy 4th everyone.

I usually professionally shoot fireworks, but this year I'm taking a break.

We may not have had an Independence Day to celebrate had the weather been better and the Brits a little more organized in the War of 1812 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812).

So, it was World War 0.5--the only war the U.S. has ever lost on its own soil...which is the exact opposite of the French who have lost every war. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Speaking of which, I'm about to fire up the movie, Independence Day--c'mon over and we'll go kick some alien ass!

So, what do you use to shoot fireworks with--a .22 caliber?

I used to make my own homegrown fireworks years ago...though there was one close call where I said, "I better skip this" for now on:

4.4.1978, Costa Mesa, California: I took an Estes Big Bertha rocket, crammed its insides with two M-80s, sparkler filings, and lots of gunpowder, and shoved a "D" engine up its tail with a 3-second ejection charge. The plan was to launch the bird in the middle of residential street, have it go up about 500 ft, then ka-BOOM!!!

Well, that was the plan, anyway...

What we didn't take into account in our eagerness and excitement was weight--the rocket was pretty heavy. So, when we hit the button on the firing control, it visibly struggled to go up about 20 ft, then *FLASH* *KA-BOOOM!* The front windows shattered in all the surrounding houses and apartments. The cops arrived a few minutes later but we had long high-tailed it outta there. Luckily, we were never fingered for the prank.

A few years later, I had a whole brick of firecrackers go off in my VW Bug while I was driving it through a tunnel, but I posted that story on here last year so there's no need to repeat myself...again. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I shoot with Fireworks by Grucci (http://www.grucci.com). We load up the shells (up to 12", usually 4-6") in fiberglass mortars. For finales we also have big shot "cake" boxes with 1-2 inch shells.

We fire them electronically. Some shows are even detonated via computer.

Man..... I used to have a Big Bertha!

You made me laugh so hard I spit out some cake!

I took Big Bertha and made a plywood launcher - to go Horizontal.

Figured I can clear a good length of the field before it hit dirt and got all destroyed.

Well...... Let's just say the guide rod on my horizontal launcher was a little higher in the front.

Made Bertha come off the front, she had a very graceful arch that cleared 2 baseball fields, 1 soccer field and slammed right into someones metal shed.

I hight tailed my but outta there.

On the way to school the next day, my best friend and I walked past that house and learned one important lesson.

Exit holes are much larger than entrance holes!!!!
