Well I Like the many options of my Radio with the exeption when crossbanding from one band to another with one side being set up on a repeater I have to wait until the repeater tail drops before taking control as what I mean is as long as the repeater tail is there and i key up im just SOL so if there is a QSO going on unless the repeater drops i can only listen realy extends the range of my Handheld im Way out in the Boonies and without it I am sitting here in my shack and listning in the yard or the garage is impossible http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

i used to won one of these alinco dr - 605 radios, but one of the main things I did not like ( well really there are TWO ) #1) no squelch knob ( had to go through the MENU to adjust the squelch )..which was a real pian, but then a LOT of the newer radios are like that ( menu setting) so I guess I am going o have to get used to is.... 2) no vhf/vhf #or uhf/uhf recieving ... in simple terms you always had a vhf frequency and a uhf frequency to look at /listen to... could not listen to 2 vhf #frequencies or 2 Uhf frequencies... price was moderate #amd ease of operation was okay... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif # #kd4amg

Hello, Folks. I, too own the DR-605Tq Alinco. Great radio. The cure for having to wait for the squech tail to drop, should not be too difficult, if it uses CTCSS tone for access. You will have to ask the repeater owner/trustee to see if he/she can enable the repeater to "pass through" the CTCSS tone.... have it transmit the tone. Then set up "tone squelch" on the Alinco on the repeater frequency. When the "other party" stops transmitting (no CTCSS), your Alinco will drop out, too, allowing you to transmit before the squelch tail drops. I hope this makes sense.... it does to me.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif [B] hi guys, i also had a 605tq, as a matter of fact i just picked up another one, but looking for a 610t, but anyway i do agree about the complaints from the other guys , but the one good thing that i have been told the audio is very good, i could live with the rest of the complaints, but the mods are easy. anyway have fun with the hobby.

I love this radio. For the price and what it does, you can't beat it. The audio is amazing (would have thought it was a Kenwood) My downside is, it doesn't offer DCS tone, but then again, almost everyone is still using PL.

You can't beat it for the price. Really good audio reports. Plain and simple dualbander that works everytime. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
