It sucks.
They've dumped spyware in at least some of their clients. They spam all the time, and they either sell or give away their email list.
Stick to AIM or such like from one of the well known providers.

I don't understand why more people don't use Jabber-based IM systems? I use Google Talk and it works well and I don't have to worry about my third-party client getting banz0r3d.
The more proprietary protocols we add to the "pipes", the less free the Internet is. Keep our protocols open as they should be.

I agree with JCY in my preference for open protocols. GTalk is a great IM client. Heh, even if you don't like the client, you can pick from any number of IM programs that work with it.
If you need an invite to gmail so you can get on GTalk, email me at ke5nrh AT gmail DOT com. I'll hook ya up.

I used PalTalk a couple years back and thought it was interesting listening to other countries and their accents. Like any chatroom..... some are good and most are.... well... NOT good. I also had many problems removing / Uninstalling the software and think it DID leave Spyware of some sort.
Reminded me of Net groups on 2 meters. You could even hook up a good mike and headphones and even transmit some music in some rooms. Small fee however and limited to visuals (I think it used web cams).
