I just had my first QSO a few moments ago and I just had to let everyone else know about it. KR4FP was his call over in AL and he seemed like a right, nice fellow. Thanks Clovis for making my first QSO an enjoyable experience.

Carpenters' "We've only just begun" just flitted through my skull.

Congrats and hope you have many many more good times with the hobby.
It sounds like your first contact went better than mine. I really wanted to work CW, but on the day my call came through the system, and I got home and fired up my radio, the propagation was terrible. I called and called and finally, way down in the noise, someone answered me. The conditions were really bad and we had a hard time getting 50% of the conversation. My CW was about a fast as mollasses in the Alaska Iddirod. The other fellow finally begged off.
Hope to hear you on the air waves.

Thanks to all who have replied so far and for those yet to reply. I will take to the air again today and see what awaits me.
Field Day is already marked on the Calendar. The Athens Radio Club will be celebrating 100 years of flight in Georgia thanks to Ben Epps so give us a listen in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations!
You'll always remember your first QSO--mine was nearly 50 years ago and I still remember KN0KEC in Fairfield, IA.

Good job, but we need more details. What band, etc?

Congratulations...
I'll never forget my first contact...it was with WD4AXA, 40 meter novice band, there was a lot of QRM and I was so nervous but I made it through. Ted was great... very patient and very professional and he was also a new ham(at the time). Welcome to a great hobby and good luck.

3965 huh? Great group of guys (and gals!)
My first HF experience (not counting Field Day) was on the "M" net.
Congratulations and hope to hear you soon!

Cool! -- I'll well remember my first HF contact too. (All of a couple of weeks ago now...) It was a bit unique in several ways.
I set up my rig on my bicycle and was going for an early morning ride around the lake. Browsing 40M, I came across KD1C calling for early-bird checkins to the Navy Net. After listening for a good half hour, I tried calling - at 10W! And he answered!!! He was having trouble copying due to noise in his area - I raised my power to 20W and he was able to copy me. He had a bit of a time believing I was talking to him from a bicycle!
I thought it was a bit humorous - I could hear quite a few of the other checkins, and they were all complaining about band conditions that morning. Things sure were great for me! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
He fired off a QSL card for me, guess I need to hurry up and get some for myself... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
