Well i finally found all the problems i was having with my 2 Meter KDK with the feedback . I finally got around to installing it into ( my parents ) van with a bit of " Haming " i sadly had to buy a bloody extension cable which made me mad! . Hey at least its safer then what it was just sitting on the seat ! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I have one of those radios. I don't have a manual, though. I was told that there is no PL tone board in it but there is a switch marked TONE. Most of our repeaters have PLs on them so my radio is not much good for anything but simplex. Unless I am incorrect about the tone board and could enter PLs into it.

Does your radio have a way to enter PL tones on it?

Nice set-up, I like it.

I hope once I get a Motorola for my truck that I will be able to make a descent mounting system.

I believe the KDK is similar to the Kenwood TR-7400A regarding tones. There was a board furnished with the radio, and you had to purchase a tone module for the board. That gave you ONE tone ... period. The tone was selected via a switch for either encode or decode CTCSS ... or switched off for normal no tone operation.

Now you could use the Comm Spec modules quite easily.

the KDK Does have a tone board but you have to adjust the tone by hand . it also has DTMF but you need the original microphone which i do not have and really want but cant find it on eBay or anywhere else http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

The manual is online

Thanks. Mine turns out to be a 2015 not a 2025. I will look for that on the site too.

Nicely done mounting job. You have a good looking microphone (I'm biased!)

15 meters of antenna cable is like 45 feet. That wasn't long enough? Wow, where do you have that cable running?

Enjoy the road.

I like the repeater list on the top of the rig, but... Do you have to do a head-stand to read it? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Picking on ME now Charlie?

It was a spotlight. There were times I'd wished it was a radar gun; I could have had a lot of fun with it. Heh heh.

...if you really want to make folks upset...point an old hair dryer at them, especially if you own a vehicle that half way resembles the local law enforcement folks cehicles.....of course depending on the folks, you might get shot at.

Not a great idea in certain neighborhoods.

The local cops might not like the idea either.

When th local cops pull you over, be sure to show them your modified 2 meter / 440 rig that will TRANSMIT on their frequencies, I am sure they will NOT be impressed .

While riding in the back seat, look through the " cage " to see what kind of radio THEY have under the dash and impress them with your radio knowledge.

This is mine, currently:

Here it is showing the radio on the navi display. My next project is to make the car stereo's controls control the radio via CI-V. It can be done with a PIC with the car stereo in CD-C mode.
