Not sure if I've ever met Michele, but Burghardt has been my ham dealer for a long, long time (since 1975??) and I visit their store about once a year when I'm in or near SD. But most important, they're great Elmers, if you're a hollow state OF looking for a solid state rig or reeally need to understand the differences between rigs or how to make them work! There are rules in my family. Nothing that requires my attendance happens the fourth weekend of June, or the first weekend of November.

Well,I can compromise. I will make myself available, after 2PM EDT (1800Z) Sunday of the fourth weekend of June ; or before 2030Z on the first Saturday of November. Anything scheduled within the bracketed time frame however is intended to exclude me. But then--I'm not normal!

I have nothing against contests, but there seems to be no control from participants and in the sheer number of them. I may have told the story here already, but about a month ago I was in an ongoing QSO with soem friends in Texas we started about 5PM. At about 8PM we started hearing a German station working a contest on the frequency(he was about an S-1 and my friends were S-9 to +20 over). He was not bothering us, nor we him. But you can guess what happened next.

Yep, US amateurs started to hear the DX station and were faced with the delima of QRMing our QSO, or letting the DX go. A couple actually broke into our conversation and asked permission to work the DX. We agreed then resumed our QSO. But many jackass contesters just could not resist and walked over our QSO to get the DX points.

GFH sent me an E-Mail on one of the boat anchor reflectors after I posted the information on the Nancy Drew movies on that reflector. I don't think that the receiver was an HRO because I didn't see an "S" meter on it. The HRO series had "S" meters but the NC-101X didn't. Also, I didn't notice any plug in coils on the receiver. The NC-101X used the moveable tray type of coil switching whereas the HRO used plug in coils.

Yes really you would think they never saw a woman before. Several years ago I placed an order with her over the telephone. You would be amazed that unlike so many ham gear sales people, she actually knows about the products she is selling and can answer your questions right away.
Yes she does know her stuff. Plus she is friendly and cordial over the phone. Ive talked to her several times while ordering over the years and we have even cracked a joke or two to each other. Shes a sweetie. A real gem in my book. I envy the guy why is married to her.
