Finally, a new homeland for those of you who couldn't make the trip to Cuba. #QSL PLS

I could always use another DXCC entity.
Sounds like the same noises made by the "State of Jefferson" adherents here in NorCal and Southern Oregon.
They haven't gotten anywhere either...

We better take them seriously, for Vermont has an exclusive supply of Maple Syrup and if you like pancakes, you could be in for a rude awakening. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Michigan's UP is trying to do the same thing...they want to secede and call their country 'Superior'. (After Lake Superior, not their intellect.)
If either one want to secede that is fine so long as they provide the rest of the US with new flags. Or old ones, so long as the number of stars are right.

Kinda off topic, but when I was living in Vermont, I discovered that Vermont was NOT one of the origional 13 colonies...
Interesting...

Quote[/b] ]Eventually, they want to persuade state lawmakers to declare independence, returning Vermont to the status it held from 1777 to 1791.
Neither the state nor the U.S. Constitution explicitly forbids secession, but few people think it is politically viable.
Wasn't there something written in the agreement that enabled Texas to enter the Union that gives it the option, unique amongst all the states, of unilaterally succeeding from the United States? I seem to recall an active Texas independence movement not too many years ago. Some people were taking it seriously.

Texas entered the union via treaty. It can split into 5 states at any time as agreed in the treaty. I do not recall anything allowing them to secede from the union at will, but there was a group called "the Republic of Texas" that wanted to about 10 years ago or so...

And only half of our state wants to secede.
Not to mention the late Irb, W2VJZ, who made maple syrup in New Jersey. #And it was outstanding! #There's also NH, NYState, and PA. #Maybe even Ohio.
I've heard that the only region in the world where sugar maple trees grow is the NE U.S. #I LOVE the syrup and hate that the real maple content of Log Cabin had steadily decreased since the 50's to where it is today (0%). #Same with Vermont Maid.
But, happily, most super markets now carry multiple brands of real maple syrup. #My brand of choice is Camp, from Canada.
But get this about Vermont, this story is very true.
Me and #a friend were driving home from Vt. and stopped in a good-looking restuarant. #I ordered pancakes. #When they came, I got "fake" butter. #I asked the waitress if I could have real butter and she replied with much attitude, "No, we don't have real butter." #So I asked for maple syrup (what she brought just didn't qualify as anything I'd ever put on pancakes), I got the same attitude.
So there ya go...a restaurant in the state that's known for dairy and maple products, I could get neither in a restaurant.
And don't get me started about the lodge on the top of Mt. Equinox. I seriously felt like I was at Fawlty Towers! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

One of my favorite places to visit in Vermont was mount Equinox! Love that place!!!
Anyway, so you stayed in the lodge? Looked too expensive for what it was to me, but still liked to visit the place anyway.
There is an unpaved road that runs from just south of Equinox Skyline drive off of Route 7 and goes up to and meets skyline drive then goes back down the west side of equinox and ends up in Sandgate Vt... I drove it once in my 2 wheel drive Nissan truck and it was beautiful...
I kinda miss that place...

Minnesota produces a lot of maple syrup too, though it's mostly done by small farmers making small gallon batches. The Amish sell quite a bit around here.
Well, we can't let Vermont secede. Next thing you know, they'll join forces with the French-speaking Canadians, and we'll have a major insurgency on our hands. It could lead to a domino effect, New Hampshire, then Maine, then Massachussetts.
Now, if they agree to take Texas with them, that would be another matter, entirely...

Hello.
The "Republic of Texas" bunch was to kickoff the plan for an independent Texas when they killed the pope in San Antonio.
It was found at that time that there was great involvement with the American communist party.
I almost butted heads with an FBI informant, we were upset that each of us were doing the same thing at the same time and there was no room elsewhere, that is how closely that the RoT bunch was being watched.
So, how far does this go back?
http://thelaborers.net/HISTORY/132_cong_rec_h_9895_friday.htm
The root of RoT was organized crime, not a means of making things better for the people.
Once the truth was told a lot of people came forward.
A lot of communist party supporters were the most vocal, totally unexpected.

Now why would they need foreign aid? They will have all that tax money that would have normally gone to the feds. Exactly how much is a states return on the fed tax its citizens pay, 15-20 percent ?? Nope they would be far from broke. In fact the Fed's might be asking them for a loan.

Pancakes? now that's funny. Most young Americans today don't have a clue as to what a real Pancake is.
Real pancakes before the process was dumbed down where made from sourdough cultures. Who remembers real sourdough pancakes.
The reason people need to load pancakes up with syrup is because baking soda and white flower just can't compare with 200 year old Sourdough cultures.
I love making sourdough pancakes for someone who has never had them. They usually respond with gross or yuck before they ever try it... It makes me laugh every time, I say just try one. The end result is always the same, another convert. The response is usually Dam! or holy crap! those are the best pancakes I have ever had. you should open up a restaurant! And they are good, my culture is over 200 years old. They're so good you can eat them with just some butter but I do love real Maple syrup on them.

I say let them GO!!
As soon as they are gone recall their Senators and represenatives stop all wages and benefits and send them home.
Build a fence around VT and only those with the proper pass ports get to come and go.Stop all federal monies, hiway funds ,transportation funds ,federal welfare,Social Securities, etc immediately.
Recall all US Currency in the state.Cancel all federal Bank insurance, Stop Federal Funding of all Hospitals, Police, state police, recall all federal employees FBI,ATS,INS, etc ...
Place a special Export duty on ALL trucks going into the state carrying any sort of material used for consumption in the state(whoops) Territory.
REFUSE to allow any one to re enter the US and do not allow them to change their mind for a minimum of 180 days. Then if they do decide to come back stipulate all changes made by the US in the change is to be paid for by VT. and they are not allowed any US Federal benefits until the bill is paid in full. # #
If they have no cake to eat ,let them slurp Maple syrup !!

Sorry no can do unless we aply the same rules to every other country we do trade with....
OK basically what you are suggesting is poorly thought out and really really stupid. It would be funny to see the Feds attempt such nonsense. Let's see who would have the upper hand when the new Vermont government start advertising to rent property for military installations to foreign governments. What would the U.S. do then? military action? I think not! No I guess they would end up renting said property for what ever the highest bid was. Somehow I don't think Vermont would have any financial problems
Comments like the one you made really prove your mentality. If someone disagrees with you apparently it's perfectly acceptable too cage them up starve them and cause them physical harm. I doubt that's how you really are in person. I'm sure it's just an Internet persona, I mean we could find out I only live a few miles from you.
