I'm READY
I and the rest of the gang will be WA3COM
4A in Western PA again this year.
I was appointed equipment coordinator this year, so I have a more vested interest in seeing things go well.
We plan on all bands 160 thru 10 on HF (may the HF GODS smile upon us for good conditions on the higher bands)
SSB, CW & PSK-31
6-2 & 440
Phone & CW
Should be a good time, and I can't wait for a taste of the grilled slovenian sausage, tater salad, and some blow it out UR butt baked beans.
Hey KIX,
We are going to sling up a 160 loop in the trees, probably just be an NVIS antenna, radiating mostly straight up, but it may make it to Connecticut.
Sure hope to catch you !!!

Gonna skip it. Not a big fan of contests. Really dislike disguising them as something else.

I am very stoked, this will be my first field day. Last year I was new and didn't really know many other hams. This year I'm a member of a club, and am looking forward to it. I think we are cooking a bunch of chickens which is a bonus #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif . I'm also looking forward to learning a lot about emergency antenna settups, and seeing different ways to "improvise".
Pulled pork for dinner & lunch, pancakes for breakfast, + a 28 cup coffee maker. The Mid Atlantic DX & Repeater Association puts on a nice field day. I've almost lined up enough operators to run two 80 meter stations. There are others setting up stations for 160, 40, 20, 15, & 10. Still looking for 6, 2, & +. Oh yeah, and one multiband digital operator, + GOTA. We will be at least 6A - last year we were 11A, lots of VHF stations on the air.
To MADXRA, it is about 3 things, food and friends, contesting, & setting up from scratch in the field. It is all about having fun.

Not interested in contesting. It will just be another weekend like any other.

Field Day 2005:

For those who care:
IC-703, AH-4, 7-amp-hour gel cell, MO-1 Hustler mast, MFJ-1956 (http://www.mfjenterprises.com/products.php?prodid=MFJ-1956), 3/8-24 mirror mount, camera tripod, and four pieces of 40-foot long wire for counterpoise.
Possibly the last FD I'll ever do. Just not interesting anymore.
W2RDX- 3A WNY....Going for #1 in 3A class. The past few years we have been #2 and 3 since our #1 finish in 2001. We had our beam "tuning and testing" day a few weeks ago, and it looks like things are where they should be. The countdown begins...

It'll be the first field day in 21 years that I'll miss. I'll probably get to help set up, but then it's off to work.
I'll be on mobile, at least 10 meters.

I'll be zipping around southeastern PA working two field days.. one in Southern Berks County with the Dauberville DX Association (I'm on the FD committee.. so gotta make sure everything runs right) and the other in Montco with the Mid-Atlantic Radio Club (I'm on the board.. so its important I show my face.)
I'd say my weekend is pretty busy http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I'll be on the Tropical Island of Brigatine NJ (just NE of Atlantic City NJ) operating station K2B and drive over to Egg Harbor Township NJ for the K2BR station to operate there short time. I'll Possibly sleep over on the Tropical Island overnight like I did Last year at the Focus inn.

I just found out the guy I was going to ask to cover part of my shift already got the day off-BUMMER.
I guess that leaves me working and staying up late Saturday night running 1 A.
No matter what field day is my favorite ham day of the year. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Quote[/b] ]North Carolina Governor Mike Easley has declared Field Day week, June
17-24, as "Amateur Radio Appreciation Week". The proclamation can help
you publicize Field Day in your community and will help if your group

I volunteered for the graveyard shift too. I'm a night owl, and will be taking vacation days friday and monday. I love to be on the air late (or early if you look at it that way). I have no idea what mode I'll be working yet. My CW is not quite up to snuff yet speed wise, plus I only know how to send with a straight key. So that may be out this year. I can copy callsigns at 12-15 wpm, but any ragchew is closer to 10 wpm. Not quite ready for a special event CW station. However, I can run my mouth with the best of them http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif So I'll prob. work phone.

I mix it up. I'll work a little CW, then some phone, then maybe a little PSK31. I like the overnight too as everyone else goes to sleep and I can get things done as there aren't as many distractions.

Iam helping the Scranton Pocono Radio Club with their event this year, K3CSG Kilowat 3 Copper, Silver, Gold We will be set up at Seamans Airfield, Lackawana County, PA. We hope to have a 3a, plus a gota station on the air all bands. Being not too involved with field day that often, is it worth getting an antenna up for 160M? We are still working out the plans and bugs form last year.
Thanks..Scott, KA3QLF

That's good enough if you operate in search and pounce mode. Look for stations calling CQ and working other stations, listen to the call and exchange enough times to work it out, and make your call. That's what I do in the CW contests. You won't get a high score, but it's excellent practice and great fun.
My XYL planned a graduation party for our son on June 23. If I get any time to operate at all, it will be from home class 1D.

Only brass pounders are allowed to drink at FD. I have yet to hear slurred speech from an iambic key. J-38's and bugs, on the other hand...
