Greetings all-

I'm the guy who does the upgrade on the HM-151 hand
mic that comes with the IC-7000. If you have one, you know it has low audio.
Wouldn't you like to set the mic gain at 50% and have full SSB power out with
no compressor and sound great on FM too?
My second revision upgrade is just out. All the details are on my website.

It's cheap, quick and sounds superb! I even offer kits.

Thanks and 73's

My year old 7000 does not have any kind of low audio issue. Plenty of audio for all modes.

AM aircraft band receive stinks however.

Hello.

The IC-7000 is not noted for being much of a wideband radio, the tuned circuits are at the edge when in the VHF air band.
This can be fixed, at the expense of 2 meter operation.
Alignment to the aero band is done following the 2 meter instruction but a good compromise would be to center a test signal around 139 MHz and align with that.
Other than that I have not seen any real issues with this rig but have not tried the mic mod.
The TV mod works, but this is not the greatest for TV reception, I have seen under $50 pocket portables do better.

My Kenwood TMG-707A (2/440) has great aircraft receive audio. No mods of any kind done to either radio. Even the NOAA Wx broadcasts are better quality on the Kenwood.

7000 is enjoyable on SSB ... either HF or VHF.
