An Old Timer once gave me some very sage advice about Quads. He said: "A lot of guys have told me what a great antenna their quad was before it fell down".
Well, I didn't take his advice. I put up a Gem Quad years ago. It really did work great, until the ice storm.
If I was going to put up another one, the main thing I would do differently is, I would feed each band separately (using an MFJ or similar remote antenna switch). When you try to feed all bands with a common feedpoint, it gets really hard to tune it. Keep in mind that the adjustment point will be further than arms length away from the tower, so, depending on individual installation circumstances, you may have to lower it to the ground in order to tune it. Your helpers will get tired of that real quick.

Boy, after looking at all the good stuff on his site, I'm really confused. Too much information, too fast. Time to digest a little. Cheers...KR
