.rs2 file extension

Hi Gang. I was trying out my new software ( DigTRX ) and computer tonight on 14.233, and getting all but one segment from a couple of stations. However, I could not view even the partial files with Irfanview. I checked in the "corrupt files" directory for the pictures, and found that they had been saved with a .rs2 extension. To my knowledge, Irfanview does not open a file with this extension.

Does anyone have an idea as to what these files are? Just about the time I got used to .jpg, they came out with jp2. Now it's .rs2 ! ! !

I'm using Irfanview with the .400 series plugins, which I understand is the lastest.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I need to view these files? I know, jp2 is Sooo 20th century !

Thanks for the idea IZE. Just "googling" on the search page didn't help ( as per my previous post ) but the google discussion group for WinDRM is a goldmine!

I ran an rs2 search on yahoo, google, and on the synaptic package manager for PCLinuxOS 2007. I found nothing. Seems to me that this is a micro$oft exclu$ive file format. Also, it may be that this file format can only be read by the program that generated it. I remember a video game program I once had for linux in which its files were in a format called .carrier. The only thing that could read that format was the program itself. I don't really know, I am merely guessing.
