I saw that a while back. Isn't it supposed to be "VS" sms instead of "VIA" sms?

This is really old news.

Morse code beats text messaging every time.

Those guys are cool.

I e-mailed Chip, K7JA, the guy that was copying on the show and told him that my daughter and I were going to take our code tests wearing some green visors I found at a card shop. #He said he wanted a picture of that. #I sent him a picture of K0LEY in her green visor with her Element 1 CSCE in hand.

A few weeks later she got a big envelope in the mail. #Inside was a wonderful letter welcoming her into the ranks of licensed CW operators. #He also said that he knew she would need some postage for her QSL cards and included not one, but two pages of real US postage stamps with the picture of her I sent him on them. #That was not a cheap ordeal.

As a small gesture of my appreciation I made a video of K0LEY sending code using a Bencher paddle. #She sent 'I just saved a ton of money on my cell phone bill' and then smiles and says 'Thanks Chip'.

Cool 'hobby' we have here, eh?

Just a note, they were not sending CW on the air and that is why no call signs were sent. #Due to intermod issues on the stage they had to listen to the tones through the studio sound system OVER the crowd noise. #They also beat the kids a couple times in practice and were not sending at top speed.

Thanks Chip if you are reading this!

say what you want but CW separates the men from the boys every time. I just love the look on those two kids faces when an old timers mode beats the pants off the so called new digital age!

The kid on the receiving end actually looked a bit intrigued by the hardware on the table.

I wonder if anyone tried to recruit him for ham radio?
