Tornado struck Greensburg last nite.
Greensburg is East of Dodge City.
News reports say the town has been evacuated to
shelters in Haviland.

We have no hams in that area at this time but
KØUO was headed there last nite and is probably
working with the sherrif's office and not as a ham.

It's very likely that cell phone coverage in the Greensburg
area is down.

KØBXF and I are monitoring 3920 in the event that
radio communication is established.

Made the headline telly news here in Holland too.
7 People killed, lots of damage, someone just moved there last week, had his house next to the firehouse destroyed completely.

R.I.P for the victims, hope help arrives soon.

Just saw the weather and it looks like there are watch boxes over nearly the entire state. This could be a bad one before it's over.

I had been tracking this monster storm by radar for quite some time. In Kiowa Country KS, storm spotters reported that this storm produced three tornadoes: two (2) tornadoes rotating around the main vortex that was a mile wide! The Wichita NWS reported that this storm was producing "significant" damage south of Great Bend, KS around 0100 CDT (06Z) early this morning.

Looking at the Storm Prediction Center's website, it looks as if west-central Kansas may be in for more rough weather today. They are under a HIGH RISK for more severe weather. SPC has already issued a "Public Weather Statement" for the area today.

My thoughts and prayers are with my Kansas neighbors who have lost loved ones to this storm.

Just had a report from the local 10 PM CDT (03Z) news that ANOTHER tornado was just south of Greenburg, KS this evening as if those people didn't have enough to worry about.

From the video that our local Tulsa TV Stations shot, it looks as though Greenburg doesn't exist. Mayor of Greenburg estimates that 95% of the community is GONE!

This may have been answered, I didn't take the time to read the replies in their entirety, however the SATERN net meets at 9am 3pm and 9pm daily on 3920. If that doesnt work during the day they will be on 7265.
