I'm so glad we live in a country where dissent is not tolerated. If I had it my way she'd be locked up.

And let this be a lesson to you LIBS, keep your mouths SHUT and OBEY the government!!!!

Warmest regards,

Rich

Rapid City lawyer Patrick Duffy said there’s plenty of reason to complain. Duffy, who has worked on key civil rights cases involving American Indian voting issues, said action by the state means that any personalized plate must be recalled because of a single complaint, no matter what the message.

“What this means is that every atheist can now wipe out anything that seems to refer to God,” Duffy said. “Will vanity plates for members of the armed forces suddenly be declared offensive if they offend a single pacifist? It’s absolutely preposterous.”

Don't let me see your personalized SD license plate because no matter what it says, I'm going to file a complaint about it.

Believe me, I plan to file lots of complaints. I'm easily offended and I have plenty of free time.

In fact, I don't even have to see it in person. A picture on the internets is enough to get me all riled up and frothing like a rabid dog in heat!

On the face of it, she should be allowed to keep the plate, the fact that she is a tree hugger should not be a factor. The message is not obscene and she is certainly entitled to express here opinion. #The DMV claims they would not have issued the plate in the first place, had they recongnized the messsage. #Guess that's what happens, in the LIB induced PC society we live in, can't offend even a single person.

Of course, you know the plate had to be on a Toyota Prius, what else??

When I lived in Baltimore about 20 years ago there was a minor flap over a similar situation.

A lady who had a personalized plate reading "GOD IS" came home from work one day to find a new set of plates in her mailbox. #Along with the plates was a letter from the Maryland Dept. of Motor Vehicles requesting that she return her personalized plates for cancellation. #The DMV gave no explanation for this request.

She called DMV and was told, "We had a complaint about your plate." #No other reason or explanation was given.

The lady then called WFBR radio, which was news/talk format at the time, and told her story to a sympathetic host. #The host (I think it might have been Tom Marr but I'm not sure) called DMV and asked to have a DMV official come on the air to explain what this was all about. #The DMV official who took the call said, "It's DMV's policy to not issue license plates that are offensive to one or more citizens of the state of Maryland."

A day or so later, DMV got a call from someone who identified himself as being Jewish and complained that he wanted all Maryland license plates removed from circulation because they contained the Maryland state seal, part of which is a Christian cross, and he felt offended by that. #He also reminded them of what the DMV official had said publicly about not issuing plates that are "...offensive to one or more citizens."

The whole tempest in a teapot quickly died down. #The lady was allowed to keep "GOD IS" and Maryland license plates still contain the state seal, which is also unchanged.

I didn't know that you know her personally. Apparently you know she's a tree hugger so I guess you've known her for a while now. You;ve been holding out on us eh ?? All that right wing frontpagemag stuff and behind the scenes you're hanging around with tree huggers. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

And yet they will defend to the death, Slush Limberger going on the air and calling for Bill Clinton's impeachment. Free speech is free only if in support of the neocon agenda.

Exactly.
