Only if you wanted to know that the FT-2000D has 200W power output on HF also.

..............The FT-2000 provides 25 Watts of power output on AM on the 160-6 Meter Amateur bands. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

...and ( I bet you do not want to read this, but )... this radio CAN possibly be modified to be used on 11 meters.
I told you that you did not want to read that, but you DID any way.

And the Icom IC-746Pro has had it for the last 5+ years.
Your point? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
And my old "boatanchors" can hear more stations than I can work, anyway. . . . so what, as someone else has said, is the point http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
I will never forget at a field day exercise a few years ago, someone showed up with a brand-spankin'-new radio with all the bells and whistles. I plunked down my old Icom next to his and we started working stations as a team. He got to the point where he just could NOT work a station that we knew was not on our contact list, but was not answering his call for love nor money. Finally, I said, "let me try", and gave the other station a call with the old faithful Icom. Yup, chaulk up another one for the "boatanchor" and its OF operator !
Hey, FD is coming, isn't it ? I can't wait!

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Yep, I have the same problem with my trusty ol' KENWOOD 940 ...on both SSB & C W .
As long as I dont ask for an " audio check " on 3.955 every one says it sounds great, but I just cant seem to send out a decent signal on 3.955.....but since I spend most of my time now using C W , I dont have to tolerate the consistent negativity from certain folks who ( of course ) remain nameless ( and in some cases call sign less ) . Honestly I aint been above 3.600 ( on 75/80 meters ) , even random tuning, so I dont know who or what major/minor events I aint been missing ( slow down, you are reading too fast !!).
BTW --- we had a great TAILGATE PARTY last weekend here in Moulton, had about 11 sellers, and possibly as many as 200 total folks wandering around in the sunshine...of course it ended around NOON, folks came from as far away as the middle part of Alabama ( CLANTON area ) and from some parts of Tennessee, and that is pretty great since we didnt do THAT much announcing of the event, except on the 3.965 net, and a couple of local 2 meter nets. When folks hear of an event ( especially a FREE one ) they usually drive a good 100 miles or more to go to it, maybe not to sell, but to show up and socialize with fellow licensed amateur radio operators. All in all, it was well worth the hardly any money spent to put on this event , and problably will do it around the same time next year.
This weekend there is the BIRMINGHAM (alabama) hanfest, and I "might " go to it ( never been ), if I get up early enough and aint got nuthin' better to do. Yep, I wont go, just sit here and bang away on the keyboard instead...lots cheaper and no time spent on the road dealing with other idiotic Alabama drivers who aint as good of a driver as I am.
I thought for about 10 seconds ( till another thought wandered in ) about getting BACK on the cb channels, but I honestly figure the band will be way too crowded with upset amateurs who left the amateur bands back when the FCC eliminated the C W requirement, and resorted to the cb band for their communication specialties / necessities.
( Dern dont you folks wish I would spend as much time on the radio as I do beating this poor ol' keyboard up ?? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )
Your all great people http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
GQ,
Could it be a coincidence that this information happens to be the last 2 questions on the Gigaparts sweepstakes for this rig or are you letting us know for another reason ?

On the Yaesu FT-2000,the first IF is at 69.450 MHz,,,,,,,
On the FT-2000, the torque of the Main Tuning Dial Knob may be adjusted if you,,,,,,,,,,,,Hold down the rear skirt of the knob, and rotate the knob itself to the right or left.

Both key jacks on the FT-2000 utilize POSITIVE keying voltage.

It is a wise man who does not buy a new radio until it has been out for at least one full year.
Too many radios have bugs and problems that need to be worked out.
After a year or two if the model is still available it is probably OK.

The FT-2000 also has constant recording for instant playback in case you miss a call. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

You don't have to tell me this,,,,
I bought a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, the NEW body style and it is less than 3 months old and I finally had Chrysler buy it back under the Lemon Law.
Everyone said wait until the 2008 are out but nooooooooo I had to get this new model.
Have fun on the contest
The FT-2000's key-up voltage is approximately +5V DC.
The FT-2000 is an excellent 6 meter rig.
The FT-2000 has a key-down current of approximately 1 mA.

OK, but what is the the key DOWN voltage? I bet THAT isn't covered in the brochure or owner's manual! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
