I guess it had VERY few hours on it before it was put in storage. I guess it belonged to a little old lady who only drove it on Sundays.
The paint's all peeling off the cabinet, but i undestand taht was a Ranger II problem.
Anyway...see y'all on AM

My first sideband rig was an HT-32A.
It's still in Alaska someplace. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hi Eric and all,
Congrats on one of the best little CW-AM transmitters in Boatanchorville! Besides Tron's audio mods which are great for Yay Emm don't forget the VR tube and the temperature compensation adjustment, you don't want it to drift all over the place. Pay attention to the grid block sequence keying chain if you work CW, chirp can be a bit of a problem in the Ranger and Valiant. Last but not least solid state rectifiers are a nice finishing touch inside the case.
Outside that maroon paint does have a peeling problem, it never bonded properly to the copper plating. That can be fixed up with sanding and new paint, an exact match for many old radio finishes are available. Whatever you do >>>don't<<< do what I saw one idiot do to what otherwise would have been a perfectly restored Valiant, he sprayed it with clear lacquer. I guess you can say his Johnson is bigger than his brain.
