View Full Version : 6 meters
Es season has begun. I was hearing several stations from the Caribbean today here in PA. Most of the east and gulf states were working them. HI, VP5, CO, KP4, and others.

No go in WI at the moment. I've been seeing interesting 6M spots roll across the cluster for a couple of days now with nary a peep here.
In and out here. Working KP4 so far.

I feel better now. I found Dr. Bob working a Puerto Rico station and eased right in behind him. I could hear the DX better than I could N4DR and he only lives about 15 miles away.

Yea, I was listening to Oscar (co2oj) on 50.125 as a severe storm was creeping up on me. I finally had to disconnect everything. I'm just hoping when this cloud passes that there is still some action coming into FM17.
If this year is as good as last year on six, I'll be a very, very happy ham. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I heard a little bit of it tonight. I went out to mow the grass, and it was over when I came back in.
4 staight days of DX to Caribbean and Mexico! It's a good start. Look for Europe next couple weeks!

WOW! The "season" is upon us.
Listening to several spots on the dial where 2 stations are using the same frequency. Neither seems to know the other is there.
Fun stuff.
Fun evening...over 50 grids worked. #Band was open to multiple directions at once.

Yep. I don't have a big gun station at all on 6 meters, just a vertical piece of wire.
I thought six was dead, until I started calling CQ on 50.095
I worked 9 CW contacts in 9 different grids in about 1.5 hours. Not any kind of record, but my best run ever on 6.
Wow, what a blast. The icing on the cake was the 12 meter opening. Didn't hear as much activity as I'd have liked on 12 meters, but it was good to see the E layer get dense enough to propogate that band.
Wow, I hope this is just the beginning.
Look forward to the "World above 50 Mhz" article in QST.

Signals were awesome yesterday... got in a little late.. but was able to work Costa Rica, and i heard the Panama station.
the band was hot yesterday - picked up a few new grids and a few new countries. unfortuately there were a few "local" stations chatting in the DX window on top of some weak signal DX...

Yea, I noticed that too. #Even some fighting going on.
For new 6m ops-
This is the general layout of the lower part of the band. #Remember, DX is NOT a few states away, DX is out of the country.
